Bloody hell Tufty, there's stealth and then there's Stealth....
This is one thing I'd like to do but I don't want to spend too much on a vent mount or a pod. Also guys do you have to drill a hole in the bulkhead to feed in the line for the pod or is there another way to fit it?
Sandip, where did you get that from?
i really need to take some better pics
I found a gromet in the bulkhead to feed pipes and wires through. It's roughly inline with the DV maybe a bit more to the right and you can get your hand under the dash behind the heater to get to it too.
Got the pod from Awesome GTI and the boost gauge was from my local car shop, it's the same gauge as tufty's except mines in psi rather than bar
I like the gauges situated on the Pillar. But can't you get the Pods which are actually made into the pillar and not the pods which screw onto the pillar? If you get what i'm saying? lol Sorry! It's like you change the whole pillar which has pods made into it already?
I am gonna move mine to the pillar I think, I like where I have it at the moment but its difficult to read and I need to fit my Liquid gauge so that will go in the vent instead...
Do you buy the guages already with bulb and wires for the back light or do you just fit your own bulb and wire it in? I really need to sort out a guage as my boost is very unpredictable.
I too am a fan of the pillar pod but it is a fair bit of work to make one look good.
Both the gauges I have used have their own lights. My Stack uses LED's. Currently wired into a switched ignition source as my previous gauge was a stealth one that needed the light on to see it.
I will be doing the same as S3_kev with mine and painting the back red, it will match the S3 instruments then, white needle, white numbering until the lights are on then red numbering and white needle...
I just bought a universal pod off ebay for about £10, cut and fiberglassed to the pillar trim, then sprayed black. simple.
My gauges all have leds already in them and can change between 7 different colours or have them on a cycle (but is kind of distracting when driving), they come on with the ignition as well.
