I'm thinking about a bonnet bra for my Avant but bit of a 50%50 split.
I do alot of miles so after a bit of protection but at the same I don't really want it to look sh!te.

Just wondering what everyones thought is on them and if they got any experiance.

Hmm I've been toying with the idea of a bonnet bra but then I think will it look stupid or not there is one near me it's a metallic lime green with black wheels and doesnt look to bad but I'm still not over keen on them personally so I can't really comment as I'm in the same boat as to do or not to do.

I thought about one of these...pro's-keeps stone chips away cons-it can create condensation and if contaminated you can damage the very thing you are trying to protect.

Pointless in my eyes. People put them on to protect against stone chips but when they get to shows and so on they still dont take them off?

    Look pretty silly to me.

    How does condensation damage paint?
    Contamination, what sort?

My bonnet needs painting, so i'm thinking of fitting one to save me from having to paint so soon.
Plus the protection side of it.

Why not just tape some foam to the front of your car? Will protect it just as well and look just as gash. If your bothered about stone chips what about the bumper?

I got enough foam, I could try it.

True but it never looks as bad as the bonnet.

As a functional item to protect the car then fine, but i dont get the whole turning up to shows with one on though.

In my mind, when your at the show you should be showing off the perfectly preserved paintwork.

It would be a bit like fitting some steels or cheap crappy alloys to save your expensive shiney alloys from damage over winter, but then leaving them on the car come show time and not bothering to refit the alloys you were trying to protect.

If the weather is cold when you stop after driving it'll be warm underneath and create condensation also if you get grit/dust into it thats what can damage it

Yeah, I see what you mean.

    I understand what you're saying.

Any one got any experience with bonnet bras?

I dont mind them when the rest of the car is immaculate and been extremely well looked after (Not saying yours isn't Scott B5)

It's when you see a MK4/5 Golf with them on and rest of bodywork is scraped or dented or the alloys are corroded/kerbed to hell. Then, IMO, it looks stupid.

Completely pointless - you protect teh bonnet... but yeah, what about the bumper, headlights, grill etc etc; oh and the resr of the car?

And the full front end ones just look stupid anyway. Personal preference anyway.

It's a scene thing.Don't do it kids ;-) next thing you know you'll be painting your wheels neon green and covering everything in stickers and rust.

Don't do it, I had one on my MK3 Golf GTI and it destroyed the paint underneath, used to clean it out regularly because it filled with grit which vibrated through the paint and ended up with a lot of bubbles in the paint

    Did look gd though

Just my opinion, feel free to disagree

P.S excuse the dodgy parking, a mate had broken down and I was helping him fix it in the middle of town

I had one on my A4. I loved it. Didn't keep it on for extended periods though... because I also had one on my Jetta. It ruined the paintwork because I kept leaving it on.
