I'm making some last minute changes to my A3 saloon order and decided to add the BO sound upgrade. I haven't ordered the interior lights package, I wanted to know will the chrome edges still light up or is that only in conjunction with that package?

None of the speakers on the rear are illuminated, either with B&O or the light package. It's a shame really!

I would really spec the lighting package if you are having the b&o as the two lighting systems compliment each other

As I gather it only really adds the two rings inside the cup holders right? and the extra reading lights.
I've already spec'd the car with options that surpasses my original budget (Woops). If I were to spec the light pack I think I would need to remove the heated seats option which I think it's a more useful option especially on a cold British morning.

Gives you puddle lights, footwell lights and door handle lights. Really does make a big difference to the cabin look and feel.

You could always go for the Audi Sound System (great!) AND the lighting package

Coming from A3 8V already with standard speakers I was a little disappointed sound quality and from what I've read the audi sound system is an additional sub and centre speaker?

    And uprated amp....

I'm perfectly happy with it given what goes through it (and I have a hi-fi at home that costs almost as much as my A3 over the years).

I'd rate the light pack over heated seats... The S-line is only part leather and I've never found the seats cold in winter.

The standard system has 8 passive speakers with 80 watts. The Audi Sound System has 10 speakers including the sub-woofer in the spare wheel well, 6 channel amplifier and 180 watt output (and NO crackling!). But if you didn't like the sound that's fine. Like arad85 I think the sound is excellent.

Looks like everyone here is against the B&O system lol
Anyone that's got B&O care to put their 2 cents in?

Is this a common problem for B&O systems? I've seen a few topics about it but I didn't realise it's that common. Surely Audi have fixed this issue?

The B and O is a truly epic option, I've got Bose in my S3 now and after listening to it I'm sorry to say its leaps and bounds over the Bose.

The B and O is like being in a nightclub with the speakers being punchy and strong with a truck loads of Bass and clear vocals.

May not be to everyone tastes but I love it !

Don't think anyone is particularly against the B&O system, it's just that you said your budget was tight (hence deciding between heated seats / ligh pack etc). On a tight budget the Audi Sound System represents better value for money than the B&O, but the B&O is a whole different league!

I would almost certainly spec B&O on my next car despite the crackling. But don't hold your breath for Audi to issue a fix as they haven't officially confirmed the issue.

I think even if I were to downgrade to the Audi system I would rather put that extra money towards the avanced key option rather than lights… I've always hated the flick key… even my 8 year old 1er had a remote and push button start
I'm like a child in a candy store… I'm now drifting into other options lol

Your guess is as good as mine! I think on this forum there are around half a dozen members with the issue. What percentage of real-world issues that represents is for Audi to know, and us to guess! Alternatively it could be present on all of them, but the majority of people don't realise or notice it. Very hard to say.

If you're concerned I'd ask your dealer to demonstrate an A3 with B&O fitted and you can make your own mind up as to whether it's acceptable.

Some A3's are ok but S3's don't seem to be. I've done some extensive testing in a different thread about the B and O.

I have the B&O and find it amazing
I am currently in Germany having driven 2000 miles in the last few days through france Germany Switzerland and love using the B&O system, including cabriolet top down autobahn 120 mph times with B&O doing its business

I've noticed that the Sub is not hidden in the boot for Saloon but instead on the parcel shelf. Anyone got any pictures of this? I'd like to see how big it is

I have turned background lighting right up and the B&O speaker lights are still fairly low/dim. Some pics I have seen seem to in the day time and peoples speaker lights are bright. perhaps I have to wait until it dark :/ or are the other pics done in dusk/dark?

On mine they're really only noticeable at dusk/dark when the cabin lights come on.

With the light pack you can adjust their intensity by changing the "front" zone on the MMI.
