    hi all

Just thought I would post my result / opinion on Superchips Bluefin, out of the box plugged straight into my 2010 A3 2.0 TFSI Quattro S-line S-tronic, couple of presses and it was copying my original map this took about 5 mins. In to the house loaded the software on to the lappy plugged in the Bluefin connected to Superchips website, uploaded my map 3 minutes later got a text and email that the new map was ready to download, only took 3-4 minutes to download it onto the Bluefin. So I am now sat in the car thinking weather this is a good idea lol have read all the posts on here regarding re-mapping and pros and cons of custom maps and hand held devices, I wanted something to take off and put on when ever I decided so went with the Bluefin, have also heard bad stories regarding bricked ECUs.........so it took about 15 minutes for my brave side to over rule my dont be CRAZY side :) the next 5 minutes were real squeaky bum time as all hell broke loose on the dashboard with flashing warning lights and beeps (Does state in the instructions this would happen) anyway it completed the install (Bum now relaxed) all I could do was pray the car started and the engine didnt fall out, I wont use swear words and to be honest I didnt think I would tell much of a difference........HOLY POO where the extra power comes from is unreal, I am normally a non believer and the car was fast anyway (well fast for me) it goes like a bullet train, as you can tell I am well inpressed and very happy

    Cheers for reading guys

Im glad it worked out for you, but its certainly not enough to convince me.

I certainly don't think it is "normal" for the dashboard to react the way it does, even if the instructions say it is supposed to happen.

I also presume you didn't read the review some chap put on here about his recent experience with an S3 & bluefin.. although i am surprised he went along and carried on with it! But each to their own.

It just peeves me that there are so many good and honest tuners out there who will bend over backwards to ensure they provide impeccable service and give you exactly what you want, but people still go out and buy plug and play devices developed by companies that clearly (judging by one of the other latest reviews on here) couldn't give two hoots about what sort of service or product they provide. I understand you wanted something you can take on & off, but all the big names such as Revo, APR & Shark Performance all offer this service too…

    Just my two pence anyway!!

The last review on here for the Bluefin wasn't great, but there's loads of happy people with Bluefin and I've used them previously too with no problems.
The disappointing thing was how superchips handled the situation.
To the opp glad your enjoying your new lease of life and pleased it was a trouble free install.
I had my S3 Revo stage 1 yesterday and even when Revo is loading on you do get all sorts of warnings on the dashboard too.
The main thing is they go away when finished and the car starts and runs great.

In a sense your right, but its nearly a £20K car right? To me things should be done in relativity.. id probably get a bluefin if i had spent less than half of that on a focus ST for example and just want a little bit of extra oomph to have off the VXR's at the traffic lights.
But when your into high double figures with a car, i wouldn't bother saving a couple of hundred quid or so when it comes to decent mapping.

Its the same sort of reason i fuel my S3 with nothing but Vpower.. because its good for the car!!

The hand held devices seem to have a lot of problems and get a few negative reviews, all I wanted to do was to share a positive and happy review on the Bluefin it wasn't my intention to start a debate, I am happy with the money I spent and very happy with the results. Next week I am having a blackvue camera installed but will keep my opinion on that quiet lol

Its your car and your experience mate.
Glad your happy and enjoying it.
If everyone in life liked the same things it would be very boring.
Enjoy and good to hear your review.

You pay to have one of those maps removed\reinstated don't you? I've taken my Bluefin map off a few times since I've had it, it takes less than 10 minutes and it hasn't cost me an extra bean. BTW: the biggest name in British ecu mapping is .....SUPERCHIPS! they were around DECADES before some of those you consider big names. :p

Just like you Jet2004UK, I have nothing but good things to say about the whole experience! mine went flawlessly in May last year when I installed it & still I couldn't be happier with the resulting increase in power & drivability.Glad you're liking it mate.

Just to be clear, I'm not having a go at forum sponsors! I'm just pointing out that the others sometimes have nightmares with maps & some have got terrible customer service when things have gone wrong.

Good stuff bud, glad to hear it went well. I was also suprised about the amount of power it added, once you take the map off you'll feel like the A3 is gutless lol.

But i can't be the only one wondering what the need is to take the map off once you have put it on? And before anyone comes in with "Before i take it into the dealers for servicing/warranty work etc"

They can quite easily scan the system to see if anything has been uploaded.

    Each to their own though.

It's not about them knowing or being able to find out. If Audi have a reason to update or re-flash your software, you'll lose your map & have to pay again to have it reinstalled. Not so with the Bluefin.

if you were having a problem it could be beneficial to remove the map to ensure it wasnt a factor for example. Or when selling the car etc.

Saw the website price just wondered if any discounts were to be had :)

Factory ECU updates delete any performance map and the hand helds are ideal for re-instating the map.
They are VERY useful for switching to stock for dealer visits too.

From experience the dealers never bother digging around in your ECU, however if you are running even Stage 1 then the Tech will notice straight away on a test drive (assuming the nature if the dealer visit necessitates a test drive).

This happened to me and I ended up having an awkward warranty conversation with the Service Manager that I need not of had if I had switched the map off or back to stock settings.

Dont have experience with Bluefin bit the SHARK STS system was very good, reliable and easy to use.

You certainly dont NEED a handheld but in my experience they have proved to be very useful. And have a residual value when you are finished with it so not that costly neither.

the shark immobilisation function seems quite useful too, if going on holiday for example. immobilise the car and even if someone gets the keys it aint going anywhere (although unplugging the injector loom or something would do similar).

The Bluefin also allows for the removal of all ECU parameters so the car won't start.

I Bluefin'd my old 2.0TFSI too and the performance increase was significant. The install was as smooth as a baby duck's ar$e, although my car did develop stutter at about 4k rpm after a few weeks. It was a system error by them that caused the problem (they sent me the manual box version remap instead of the DSG version) but I can't fault Superchips when it came to sorting this problem out.

Also they were very generous with resetting my handheld unit when I wanted to sell it on.

I'll be Revo'ing this time around for a change, but would definitely use the Bluefin again in the future.

The handset is compatible with all variants of the 2.0tfsi and most other vw/Audi cars.
If the unit is not already reset I'm pretty sure the reset charge is approx £220.
You can find out on the bluefin website.

From memory the lower cost is for the original owner only.
If a new owner wants it reset its full price.
If your the original owner and it's less than 12 months old you can get it reset for free.
