I haven't done anything from the VAG group for a few months now but then this beast came along. The customer has owned it for a few months and has never had his cars paint corrected or detailed but after seeing his brothers R8 that I did earlier in the year he booked in all his cars but this one is definitely the pick of the bunch for me!

As you can see it was in a bit of a mess and had also had some paint on the near side rear quarter after white van man pulled out on him! :keule:

Although it is only a few months old it has been driven hard and the wheels and body work were quite badly tar spotted.

Once it was all clean, free of tar and had been clayed it was on to the paint correction. As i said before the near side had been painted after an accident and was quite badly swirled due to being flatted using a grit based compound such as Farecla or the old 3M products but the offside wasn't too bad with a few random scratches.

Weapons of choice for the paint correction after trying various combos were Menzerna 3.02 on rotary with a Menzerna white pad followed up by Menzerna PO85RD on a Megs beige pad on the PC.

Once the paint correction was finished the paint work was cleansed and then finished off with a layer of Red Royale.

Car looks stunning, great job guys. My audi dealer treated me to a drive in an RS6 last month, omg, it's amazingly fast and the brakes are something else. I could feel my insides move forward as we almost did an emergency stop from silly speeds up a motorway slip road!

But back to the detailing, what did you use to clean the exhaust tips, mine look similar with burnt on black soot at the base and I've always thought they had the potential to gleam again with the right product.

Thanks for the reply, may be a stupid question but can I get autosol in Halfords or is it a speciality product from a decent detailing company?

nope, its the same stuff as sold in halfrauds. i washed the surface **** off the tips then using a microfibre i put a couple of pea sized dabs of autosol on and worked it in then buffed off with a clean microfibre :icon_thumright:

Thanks for that, I'll get some of that and give it a go. Only the bottom inner edge is blackened so hopefully it'll work.

Cheers, your advice is much appreciated

What a superb car to work on. The swirl removal looks spot on. Nice job!

It actually looks as though all of the NS has been re-sprayed and doesn't match the NS front wing, does it look like this in the metal at all?

It may just be the photos doing your work an injustice, but that red doesn't seem to be jumping out at me. What camera are you using out of interest.

I wish I got to work on some of the car you guys have worked on.

    Keep up the good work.

the n/s was painted from the rear arch all the way forward to the front door which was blown in. it wasn't noticeable in the daylight or under the halogens but i didn't get to see it under street lighting which is the true test.

i only have a knackered sony cybershot but i have put an slr on my christmas list which i posted to santa only this morning :)
