Hi All

Ive had a quick search but nothing has come up on this subject.

after 2 years away from owning an Audi, im coming back! Looking for A4 2002- 2004 avant 19.tdi.

I want to get the 130 version rather than the 100 and all the 130hp ive looked at have a black plasic cover on the top of the engine.

But their is one for sale that says its 130 in the title but shows a silver plastic cover on the engine.

basically is the cover on the engine a good way to tell which version it is?

I don't want to travel all that way to view it to find its only 100.

I know with the ford Zetec engines that the coloured cam cover identifies diffrent versions of the engine. just wondering if audi is the same.

thanks all

I wouldn't want to rely on the colour of the engine cover!

You need to get someone to tell you the engine code from the data sticker on the service book. or in the spare wheel well. The best way to be super sure it's the correct engine is to read the code off the block itself.

thanks for the reply, I would never trust it fully until ive seen it myself. I was just wondering if it was a quick way to tell while browsing through autotrader :)

Mine has a silver cover - 130bhp 2001 AWX Engine, I thought they put black ones on the 2002 on 130bhp engine

i have black but mines only 100bph on a 52plate
