    Hi,

Can someone please let me know if they have had their Black Edition alloy/s refurbished at an Audi dealership? If yes, please can you tell me what dealership, how much it was and how long it took.

I have managed to kerb my front passenger alloy and want Audi to repair the damage rather than an "alloy wheel specialist."

This is the alloy I am referring to:

    Any help much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Nick

When my car last went in they said they can do it from £70 depending on damage. This was at Poole Audi.

Correct me if I am wrong Cruiser89, but do you not own the Audi A3 Technik? It is the Black Edition that I am seeking advice on but thanks anyway.

I do, but what does that matter when it's a standard price across the board?

Yes true, however, the Black Edition alloys are not as easy to refurb as standard Audi alloys (due to polished lacquer machine finish), according to Edinburgh Audi.

Sound very stuck up about the whole 'black edition' alloy thing. Don't listen to audi all the time all they want is your money! You'd be better off with the likes of chips away etc fixing it , OR getting a full refurb on all 4 in the colour you choose for around 170 notes..

I spoke to a guy who used to work for Audi Newbury, then left and set up a Chips Away franchise, and has since left Chips Away to become independent.

He cannot do these rims as I asked him about the risk of kerbage. He said I'd need to track down someone who can diamond cut wheels as it's not a standard paint or powder coat finish on the Audi Black Edition (BBS) Rotor alloy.

Rimtech in Milton Keynes say they do diamond cutting LINK, but I've not used them so can't comment on service / quality.

Will be getting a taxi to the kerb when my car arrives with them on it at end of this month. Missus is banned!

I take great offence to that comment!

All I want is someone who owns a Black Edition, with the Black Edition alloys (in the first picture), to leave a post saying if they have kerbed the alloy, like myself, and if they managed to get the damage repaired by somebody. Pictures before and after would be fantastic!

I only want Audi to repair the damage because they built the alloys in the first place so you would think they would be able to fix them but I know they can be very expensive.

Thanks very much for this information! Will try Rimtech, see what they say.

    LOL!

No Audi dealer refurb alloys, they just get someone in so you had may aswell cut out the middle man and contact them yourself. If they are diamond cut, my advice would be to leave it alone. It will never match the others once it's been refurbished..

Can the alloys in the second picture be refurbed by anyone, or do they have a special cut/finish to them that only Audi can do?

I spoke to a few wheel specialist around Glasgow and all said they would need to send these wheels away to be done. I do however know a guy with an rs5 with those similar looking wheels and he got Glasgow audi to refurb one of his wheels after they damaged it. Not sure where they sent it though.

The difficulty most places seem to have with refurbing these wheels is what put me off them. Still, there are loads of diamond cut wheels about now so there must be somebody raking it in fixing them.

Taking them to Audi will just cost you extra because they will take a cut and pass the job on to someone else.

I have been in engineering for 35 years now and i would dispute that is diamond cut because the finish i dead smooth. The whole point of diamond s cut is to give a scored finish like a record or CD to reflect the light and give that rainbow effect.

    this is diamond cut

needless to say these people do it...
