Big weekend ahead

    Hello all,

    I bought my audi a few months back and since I've had two big issues on it, blowing black/blue smoke and leaking coolant! After saving up the money, I and a friend who is an experienced mechanic are going to take off this cylinder head and possibly do a hybrid turbo upgrade.
    A remap is something is want in the near future anyways and from what I have read about my car, if I don't go hybrid it will eat my turbos!
    At this moment in time I'm putting the hybrid on hold though as I'm praying the head is not crack and it's just the gasket. Mechanics have told me it's the gasket and assured me they are 90% sure, not sure how they'd know though from the sniff test and pressure test. I recon they just want my money!
    So from Saturday morning I will know if to order the turbo/head and I'd hope after a map I'd get about 200bhp? (140bhp currently). I've read the I standard intercooler will be good enough . I'm also planning a backbox delete, let's hope all goes to plan.

    200 on a standard turbo or hybrid?

    could get more as far as im aware, but i'd also budget for a uprated clutch if you wish to go hybrid

    make sure u check between the valves when u get head of very hard to see so may need a steam clean before.

    get a hybrid from a good company do some research first.

    Possibly, it's only a stage 1 hybrid though. Yeah I have kept that in mind, leaving the clutch for now and saving up over the next couple of months., I should be okay around getting it sorted if it came to it though :) cheers for the advice

    Heads getting taken to a local garage that is a diesel specialist and they will check it there. I've had a look at a good few, have you any idea of any good ones out of interest? Midlands don't do hybrids for my car.

    haha I'm surprised I haven't yet, decided on keep it after a long hard think. Didn't have it in me to push these problems onto someone else like they we're put onto me! On the plus side, it's a nice looking car. So for what a few months saving was worth, I'm hoping to have her in good working order soon :)
