i have a 2008 S3 sportback with the non glossy frame sat nav (matt plastic finish)
i dont know which version it is or whatever, but just know its an earlier one (later ones have the glossy surround i think!)

it has aux in, but i find its not good enough as cant control which track etc and have to been looking down at whatever device is plugged in to change tracks.

is there a way to get some kind of ipod or iphone control through this headunit, or impossible?
or how about bluetooth streaming through this headunit?

also, does anyone know which SD cards will work in the headunit
it has 2 slots behind the screen, but ive been told some high capacity ones will not work

new to this audi thing, so just getting to grips with it all!

    Hello mate.
I use these memory cards in my 2008 S3, they work great and you can get 8GB of music out of 2 cards, which is quite a lot! Just copy music on using windows explorer, plug in and off you go. It will also read folders.
    4gb SD Card, Non-HC suitable for RNSe, Audi A3 A4 A5 A6 TT, TomTom | eBay
I don't really use my iPod connection that's in the glovebox as you can't control playlists and doesn't show track info etc.

If you have a multi-function steering wheel then go for this kit:

Dension Gateway 100 iPod iPhone Audi VW | Advanced In Car Technologies

Gives you a relatively decent iPod system. You get text on your DIS and is controlled via your MFSW.

The alternative is obviously upgrading to the RNSe and then AMI but it's quite a £££ upgrade!

    Hope that helps.

    thanks guys, that does help.

is there a link/guide to knowing the differences between versions of the sat nav models/headunits etc?

i hear the names RNS, RNSE whatever, but i would like to learn whats what! so i know what to look for :)

would prefer to stick with OEM audi stuff, i had the AMI cable in my last audi, but this one doesnt seem to have the option for that (maybe its too old)

    thanks again.

Hi mate, couple of quick questions... apologies for the thread hijack.

    1. Does that Text also show on the Nav aswell as the DIS?
    2. Does this reaplace the CD Changer in Glovebox?
    3. How much is the RNSe (Glossy Black) with AMI kit? (Roughly)

    Thanks!
