Best way to find out power gains?

    Whats the best way to find out my actual power gains on my audi s3 which i bought just over a year ago. I asume i have to take car to a specialists etc, is this costly?. And where do i start looking. Live not far outside glasgow.

    I have been told car has

    REVO remap, taking it to 265 bhp
    And it also has a BMC carbon filter and a forge recirculating alloy dump valve.

    The only way you will find out the true BHP of your car is to get it on a rolling road...and get a print out of the power your car is producing.

    Rolling Road is the obvious answer.

    But you can also do it via VAG-COM - if you have access to it - by logging certain blocks and then transferring to MS Excel. There are spreadsheets available on the web that are already set-up to do this, think it's called "butt dyno" or something. Some say it's more realistic / accurate, because you're doing the runs with correct air flows etc - but you'll need a very long and quiet road to do it - remember, stay safe!!

    Vagcom works it out from various signals from various sensors..... personally id be finding a specific type of rollers (cant rem the name of them) as a lot of rollers really dont tell the full story..... throw in your haldex and your left with an even bigger problem to identify the power

    To get a true reading then you need a engine dyno

    Rolling roads are not the most accurate when it comes to true figures

    All RR differ, some over read, some are pretty much spot on (which usually leave the owners upset)
    What I used to do was to get a RR figure before I start modding & during so then I can see what difference the mods have made. A RR can give you a rough idea, it really does depend though. I think some RR will have to pull the Haldex fuse to do the runs...
    I think Thor have a better way of doing things with hub dyno's but as said above, bench dyno is the only way to get a true figure without fudge factors.
