Hi all, any ideas on a good torque wrench for £50 and under? Thanks

I can recommend the Halfords range but they are over £50 more like £80

There are Teng tool ones on eBay and i quite like the Teng stuff.

I got one from Lidl a few months back, works fine, looks quite sturdy, don't know how accurate without checking against a brand make.
£19.00. Deal done.

Teng is one of the best ;) x

Ideally you really need two torque wrenches to cover all jobs on a car. A 1/4 inch will do the smaller fiddly stuff and the 1/2 inch the heavy duty stuff.

Draper 30357 came 2nd in the Autoexpress test £27.45 delivered . http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/84793/draper-30357

Screwfix stock Teng Torque wrenches at good prices

If you want a slightly smaller 3/8 wrench to cover smaller torque settings

+1 for the Draper 30357 1/2" Square Drive 30 - 210Nm or 22.1-154.9lb-ft Ratchet Torque Wrench

I have 2 Teng angular torque wrenches to cover the torque range I need. They are excellent and come in decent cases too. I keep the bigger one in the boot for wheel changes.

I am sorry to resurrect the group again. I am in need of a torque wrench also, mainly for wheel lug nuts and suspension stufff. I don't know which torque range I should buy. Would a torque wrench for 40 Nm to 200 Nm be okay for me ? Which torque range do you suggest? Thanks in advance

For those who are after a cheap & cheerful 'better than guessing' model... Lidl have got one on from Sunday... 1/2" drive, quick release, 17, 19, 21mm sockets (common wheel bolt sizes), 80-210Nm - £19.99

Also axle stands - £12.99, and what looks like a not bad cordless impact gun (5 torque settings (100/150/200/300/400Nm), 17, 19, 21, 23mm impact sockets, 60-minute charger, integrated light, case, 3-year warranty) - £59.99

I just bought a 1/4" drive Teng yesterday to replace a 1/4" Halfords Professional one and it has the useful angular gauge on it. Feels very good quality. I think I may be missing 25-40Nm though as I'm sure the Halfords one had a wider range before reaching the 3/4" one, I will need to check.

My 3/4" and 1/2" are both Halfords Professional ones which I've had a while and I really like the gauges on them. The 1/2" stays in my boot for wheel nuts and whilst I normally wouldn't use a torque wrench for loosening, it is only torqued nuts that I'm using it for and not as a breaker bar as such.
