What are the best spark plugs for the 2.0 fsi engine? I know fsi engines are fussy on the manufacturer/model of spark plugs they have, so can anyone give me any advice? thanks

Best plugs imho are o.e std plugs. They were chosen by audi to be the best suited plug for your engine. Bosch or ngk are most known types. Are you looking to upgrade them? The only obes ive used are denso iridium, expensive but seemed to be a good plug.

The ones i've got in at the moment look a bit worn, so I was just wondering if there is any upgrades, and Ihave a miss fire at low rpm, and wondered if the spark plugs could be causing this.

I've always found NGK's to offer most consistent result. As it's in the B6 forum and the first car mentioned is a 2.0FSi, I'm 'assuming' your car is a 130bhp model and manufactured some time between 2000-2005. If not then these part numbers are not right.

    OEM Part: BKUR5ET

    Iridium Part: BKR5EIX

Iridium tipped plugs have harder tips, so in motorsport applications they last longer. I used them for about 4 years with mixed results, and have returned to the standard platinum electrode plugs as they seem to foul less in the FSi engines, especially when modified. Also NGK say they conduct better than the Iridiums which as built for endurance rather than outright smooth running.

If these aren't the right ones, suggest you look at this website that helps you choose step by step: NGK Partfinder Catalogues

    Hello!
NGK 6458 spark plugs are better than original NGK 7742 for my 2.0 FSI BVY. NGK 6458 do not give misfires at -10C in 10 seconds after startup. The power increases faster with accelerator pedal push. However, 2.0 FSI BVY pulls with jerks without accelerator pedal push on gear 4. What do you think?

I meant above that 2.0 FSI BVY pulls without step on the gas even on 4th gear with original spark plugs VAG 101905620 Long Life (NGK 7742).
With NGK 6458, 2.0 FSI BVY pulls with jerks forward-backward without step on the gas even on 4th gear. This in the only disadvantage of NGK 6458. The fuel consumption is lower with NGK 6458.

Why is fuel consumption is 0.8L/hour on neutral gear and 0.9L/h on the first gear with the clutch pedal fully depressed (in my Passat B6 with 2.0 FSI BVY)?

Might not be the spark plugs, have a look at this video it shows a 2.0 tfsi inlet manifold (albeit on a golf) this is the downside of direct injection unless you use a catch can.Where in the rev range does it missfire?

    Hello!
The VAG 101905620 Long Life (NGK 7742) spark plug has two side mass contacts, which are further from the power contact than the central mass contact. It looks like the spark never goes from the power contact to the two side mass contacts, it goes to the central mass contact always. The side contacts are completely black from carbon fouling in my VAG 101905620 spark plugs. Moreover, the side contacts screen the fuel from the power contact. This leads to misfires at startup at -15C. Bosch 0 242 235 775 "Double platinum" spark plug is a replacement for VAG 101905620. It does not have the two side contacts. Others write that Bosch 0 242 235 775 has less misfires at startup at -15C.
Why did VAG make the two side contacts at all? It looks like the design is just stupid.
Who has compared Bosch 0 242 235 775 and VAG 101905620 in action in 2.0 FSI?

Something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Oil-Catch...hash=item4cfdc110c5:m:mmXi6NjGWaVZVCc-qrfV6cA placed at a strategic point in the positive crankcase ventilation system. This will catch any oily residues and keep the inlet manifold/ inlet valves cleaner for longer, as you can see in the link it can make a fair old mess in there.

Mecanics say that EGR is the biggest source of pollution of the engine. EGR adds exhausts to the intake air.

What do you think the exhaust fumes stick to? Oil vapour.

    Thanks for your suggestion!
Can Direkt Injection Reiniger http://www.liqui-moly.de/liquimoly/...nDocument&land=GB&voilalang=e&voiladb=web.nsf remove the fair old mess in there?
If the filter removes the oil, then it consumes the oil. Will it lead to higher oil consumption?

The best way to clean it is the same way as in the link I posted, regarding the oil consumption, this should not change as the oil caught in the can would be the same amount that would have gone into the inlet manifold.

    Thanks for your view!
I'm afraid to allow our mechanics to dismantle my engine to clean. They may not assemble in the same quality. What is the best fuel additive to remove the mess?

The fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber or cylinder if you like, no amount of fuel additive will help as it doesn't enter the intake manifold at all, that's why it has to be taken apart.

Mine is VAG 2.0 FSI BVY 150HP. Are not the spark plugs in your message suitable?

Adding WMI to direct port petrol engines can aid in the reduction of carbon build up in the inlet, best to clean then fit a WMI kit.
