So in the week I made an error of judgement! I had some post office red paint for my strut brace and thought I'd see what the Audi rings would look like red. ..

Needless to say the next day they were satin black ;)

I also got the wheels refurbed in anthracite, the same shade on the F1 Megane sport

Going down the dark and moody theme now!

    Pics..

Also been looking for some black intercooler pipes to replace the red on the front :)

I'm really liking the darker look and the wheels look really nice. Are you going to paint the rear Audi badge? and have you ever considered back blacked headlights or darkened taillights?

Also i haven't seen you mention what size are your wheels and tyre profile?

    Cheers

Please remove the lesser S-Line plate holder,an 8L S3 had no other lesser cars able to buy add-ons to make it like an S3.
The angles on these photo's really show the arches :beerchug:

Thanks for your comments! The tyre size is 235 35 r19

Was always my intention to remove the plate holders and that's just what I did over the weekend :)

I prefer mine without any badges on the rear.

Please sort those intercooler pipes out though ffs. They`re shockingly horrible. Other than that im liking the car lol.

So a few updates, firstly I have decided to go more subtle with the theme, so I got some black intercooler pipes and did away with the decals on the front

Looks nice but please do 2 things.

    1. Put the rear badge back on but a black one, best of both worlds.
    2. For gods sake dont use jabbasport.

Their tuning methods are prehistoric mate, they dont have a clue on modern day mapping etc, use bill or rtech, you wont regret it mate.

So haldex service done, and after a day at Jabba it now produces a healthy 250 bhp and 300 ft/lbs of torque. Before the map it was over boosting at around 3.2k then completely dying off, now it gradually increases from when the turbo kicks in and peaks at 5.5 k and holds 250 bhp all the way to redline, very happy!

Plans to release a few more are the n249 delete, simplify PCV with catch can, bigger downpipe and swap my resonated mid section with a non res.

also have a friend who has a Janspeed de-cat, he only wants 10-20 quid for it and I know I'm not likely to see any gains apart from noise, but anyone know of any back pressure related draw backs from fitting a decat?

So I replaced the knackered pipe which goes from the oil filter housing to the hockey puck

    Before :

Literally collapsed as I disconnected it:

    £40 later , all Fitted:

I also began the process of polishing my inlet mani, sanded down with 60 grit to get rid of the texture, just needs another hour or so to get it to mirror finish :)

I did the pipe which directly connects to the oil filter housing tonight and I never ever want to do it again! It was in such bad shape, it literally disintegrated as I was trying to take it out, and both ends got stuck in their housings. An absolute nightmare when there's only enough space for my arm.

This was the pipe after 2 hours of trying to get it out of the housing:

Another hour later and the new pipe was fitted up. My hands were shredded and a bit shakey so the pics a bit blurred!

and this was the amount of tools I used for this 1 poxy pipe!

all back together now, and hopefully never coming apart again!

So I polished my inlet this evening, quite happy with it for an hour and a half work

I'm going to do a write up in another thread so I'll keep it short,

    Started with 60 grit:

An hour or so later I finished it off with 2000 grit:

Then worked in some autosol with the 2000 grit

    And buffed:

I really like your car and wheels, but is that a 205 tire on the 8,5"?
It looks strange with those small tires and not lowered. Are you planning to lower it?

No mate unfortunately I can't lower it as it scrapes the exhaust on speed bumps already! When my old wheels are sold I am buying some 225 40 18 Goodyears so they wont be stretched any more :)

Thank you mate! Yeah its really easy, I did a guide for the AMK and BAM engines

    http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=197570

Splitter is easy too, just start in the centre and get it fixed on with self tappers, then work your way round using a heat gun to mould the plastic and trim the ends :)

Thanks mate! Unfortunately not, I have to plan every route around speedbumps as it is..but I can't avoid them all. It scrapes the exhaust already, and the new 3" will hang slightly lower so I just can't!

Fitted the catch can today! What a difference! So much gunk, split pipes and valves removed! Fits reallly snug under the strut brace in the place of the relay box (relocated behind the air filter)

I decided to vent to the atmosphere instead of back into the TIP so I capped off the TIP connection with a 3/8 extension bar and jubilee clip and vented through a breather filter routed down to near the intercooler.

    Good fun to do!
