Has anyone experienced beige gunge in the water expansion tank and if so what was the cause?

Ive had this once, i recommend that you go to the dealer as soon as possible because most probably, your headgasket is blown.

As above could be a head gasket on the way out. Do you use the car a lot for short journey's? If so this can cause milky residue. I'd get it checked to be on the safe side though.

NO..
That is unlikely..
There is a known issue with the OIL COOLERS on the vag engines where they seep oil into the water via the cooler and vice versa.
Changing the cooler (its the block that the oil filter is screwed to) is about a £40 job and can be DIY.
I have seen this happen about 4 time (and it happened to my 1.8T years ago)

Am I missing something? If this is happening to a B8 then it must be what, 3 months old at the most! I would be banging on the dealers door at 9am tomorrow morning!
