I am going tomorrow to the garage for a tune up. My battery is three years old and I am heading into a cold winter. I want them to check the battery voltage to make sure it is ok. What should it read? I don't want them to try and sell me a battery if I don't need it.

From the battery testers i used to use it wasnt whats in the battery its if it holds the charge so basically the tester had a voltmeter with a needle and if the needle dropped when on the battery it wasnt holding charge so it needed replacing if it stayed where it is then its ok. Battery voltage should be 12volts so if it is less its possible that the battery is dying but it could also mean a charging system fault. I hope this makes some sense to you :icon_thumright:
