Hi all , I'm back !!!
Some of you may remember my "basils mild improvement thread" ? http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/basils-mild-improvements-thread.189910/
Well he had to go but through lots of overtime in my new job I'm back in the 8L fold .
This time however it isn't an 8L AGU A3 it's a BAM S3
Picked it up last night and am over the moon !
Lots of OEM+ mods planned .
Interior is growing on me !!
Back soon with some updates .

Very nice example, another set of rims would set it off nice, enjoy.

^^ these ones are the only thing letting it down oh and bubbling on the boot release trim :(
Going to keep these as winter wheels and have another set refurbed either original ronals or TT/RS4 multi spokes

you certainly are gluten for punishment - how does it compare to your old A3?

It's quite amazing the difference an 80mm tip and cone makes, add a remap to make it far more responsive.

I can't go cone !
The noise really grates on me !
Badger v3 tip , pipercross panel in original air box , maybe a miltek ? Badger Ecu wizzardness and that's about it performance wise .
"MAY" go WMI but only if I can completely hide the install ?
My main efforts will be suspension improvements e.g. Rear tie bars , poly bushes and cookbot tca inserts .
Then brakes , fancy some nice TVR calipers ( lord knows where I got that idea !)
And generally keeping it in the condition it's already in .
Lastly a double din conversion :D

The standard air box is good but the inlet is smaller area than the 80mm tip, almost defeating the object, whereas an open cone will be able to flow the larger volume of air the tip will be able to draw in, you can always drill extra holes in the base of the standard air box to help flow more air.

isn't Water Meth Injection the last bit you add after all the normal stage 2 mods?

I thought it was only hybrid/ bt builds that needed wmi didn't think it was worth while on stage 1.or 2

Fair point, but is it worth the outlay on stage 1 for what gains you would see with wmi on Stage 1

On with the diff and haldex :D
IMG 1142

Diff oil was mankee!

IMG 1143

Took me a while to even find the haldex filter !!
Easy enough to remove with the correct tool ..
Which if it helps anyone locally I'll lend out for a small deposit (returnable obviously;) )

IMG 1146

While I was under there I thought I'd check the usually mentioned earth strap !!
Got to say , I can't find one !!!!
Is this the remnants of it ?
Passenger side just above the drive shaft !!!

IMG 1144

Thank you , best get myself a new earth strap then !!
That tag pictured is actually bolted to the diff casing not the haldex, I take it they earth together and not separately ?
Sorted it with the power of my works stores :D
Nut didn't shear either B)

That's a bargin! You will make money selling your singledin set up aswell

You be surprised how much the bits go for in good condition there's the hvac units with heated seat controls going for around £150 and without £50ish as long as the buttons haven't faded and the storage compartment I seen go for +£50

I am so jealous I used to love poking around scrap yards looking for inspiration and taking off the bits you need yourself. You simply don't find them anymore. Health andv safety gone mad.

This lot are absolute diamonds !!
Free to wander around , they prefer you to remove bits yourself and as proved REALLY well priced :)
Oh and a massive VAG section .
I do feel lucky tbh

Been a bit busy at work but I'm back now :)
Door blades needed a little attention !
IMG 1177

The inner white nylon part had separated , I looked into and tried a repair but wasn't 100% satisfied so nipped down to the silver one at the breakers , half bingo ?
It had a near side one but no off side :(
So I took the near side one off him which turned out to be a lot lighter in colour than my ones !
No matter :)
IMG 1209

Look much nicer and line up , winner :)
And got the chance to de crud the door bottom and wayoyl it :)

IMG 1208

Done :D

IMG 1211

Just need an off side one now !

you can't stick it back together? that inner white part?

I'm trying !
I've butchered the ruined passenger side one and epoxied the white nylon part into the drivers side one and will self tapper it once dried and grind the screw heads off , I have got my feelers out for a good replacement though :D
Anyway , dropped swmbo off at Asda and popped to my local hydraulic supplier and picked up some silicone vac hose and spring clips to replace the known dodgy OE rubbish .
IMG 1212

Found this :(

IMG 1213

So left her stranded in Asda :D and went to GSF for this :)

The dipstick plate that bolts to the inlet manifold is going to see "I've painted something" action tomorrow:)
