    No need to worry klix.

Basically the Bank need proof of your identification as you didn't have your card. You'd have found that if you'd shown a picture driving licence they'd have taken your driver number.

It basically covers the bank should there ever be a dispute over the withdrawal and they can then prove what identification was shown otherwise it would have been the cashier/tellers word over yours if it was fraudulent. i.e. the cashier would say that a passport was shown but they'd have no record of numbers etc...

Having worked for a bank many years ago times have changed and their security procedures nowadays seem over the top even by my thinking but hey....we don't have any choice unfortunately.

If you have any more worries if you phone the bank they will explain things further for you i'm sure.

    Cheers.

if i was going to steal your id, i wouldnt do it in front of you, if your id was nicked you would have a fair idea where from and he/she would be busted, i wouldnt worry about it, although you could wait for the teller to leave work, follow them and see where they live, just as a back up for future reference ?
