    Hi all, just bought a 98 A4 2.8Q and its been de-badged.
I have seen a few of these on here, on the net and out in the big wide world but all of them seem to have the badges in different places.
Some have some badges but not others, some have all the badges but in different places.
Boot lid, wing badges and grill badge.
Can anyone tell me exactly where they SHOULD be!:uhm:

    hi cal1470 welcome

pre face lift models have A4 badge on the top left inline with the four rings and the engine size on the top right.
    e.g below
    http://www.20thstreetauto.com/cars/car124/view4.htm

face lift models have them lower in line with the number plate either side
    e.g below
    http://www.barriecars.co.uk/images/audi a4 rear.jpg

i personally think that the facelift postion looks miles better if you dont like it de badged.

    hope this helps

ahhhhhh all becomes apparent. Gotta agree the facelifted placement does look better but i am trying to keep the car as original as poss so being the pre-facelift they gotta go high!

    Thanks dude!:o.k:

its a bit funny really, as mine is a 1998 pre facelift, but it doesnt have the oval on the wing and the badges were on the bootlid like the 99 on models, was there a mini facelift inbetween lauch and 1999?

think there was an inbetween one, my 99' is facelift but is different to the 2000 tdi i used to have. the dash warning lamps are different and there was a pass airbag isolator in the glovebox on the 2000.

I think, now dont hold me to this, but the real early A4's did have the wing badge and the wing even had an oval indent where the badge goes.

Later models, but still pre facelift dropped that badge in 96/97.

Mine is a 98 pre facelift so i think your right and the badges should be on the upper section of the boot.

Phew, all a bit confusing really but i think we got ther in the end.....I THINK!!!!

So is that the best way to tell if you have facelift or prefacelift model?
Mine is a 99 and the badges are half way as desribed above.
So because of that does that definetley make mine the facelift model?
Or are there other tell tale signs on a 1.8T?

hi macattax, easiest way to tell is that facelifts have one piece headlamps with the indicator included, but there are loads of small changes too.

The facelift model also has hidden windscreen washer jets, revised door handles, door trims, polished b-pillars. Those are just some of the other small changes.
