Backlight on right hand side of dash flickering

2008 170 Quattro. On these cold mornings part of the dash backlight has started flickering. Seems to be 1 or 2 lights on the right of the speedo. Everything else is fine. As the car warms up the problem goes away.

Bad connection somewhere?

I've heard about the light switch rheostat going but surely that would cause the entire dash backlight to flicker, not just 1 or 2 lights behind the speedo?

Sounds like a bad connection on the affected LED. Would be a PITA to remove and resolder I'd imagine as the clocks are pretty fiddly- if you do dismantle them be careful as when I had the clock set out, my dog knocked the speedo needle whilst being boisterous and it didn't work at all afterwards.
