I did a quick google search but I couldn't find anything that is similar to what I am experiencing on my 2007 B7 2.0 TFSI Cab (96k F-AUDI-SH milage) so I appreciate any feedback or advise (although I've just spend £500 fixing the hood motor and rear parking sensors recently!):

Either when Idle or in any gear, i get a boomy resonance from the engine after 4800 revs and that is present until it redlined. However prior to that, the engine is really smooth & refined (almost feels it has more than 4 cylinders) with no indication what so ever there is a problem. I only notice if say I am overtaking or when reving hard - never noticeable in town driving). I can replicate the issue when idle and rev the engine, so perhaps contrary to my next problem it would suggest its not transmission related.

It may or may not be related to another problem where only when cold, there is a noticeable judder from the engine pulling swaying from 1st gear. Sub sequent gear changes are perfectly fine and the issue goes away when its warm (i believe this could be clutch or clutch/plate or flywheel related, right?)

I am bracing myself that I have 2 unrelated problems that are probably both costly to fix :-(

Thanks in advance
Rob

Have experienced both judder when pulling away in first, and engine swaying when revved at standstill. Engine also seemed a tad boomy under acceleration, which I thought was exhaust related.

A new DMFW went some way to erradicate judder, but the best fix was replacement engine mounts.....which were weeping apparently. Our 2.0tdi Cab is now so much smoother, quieter and gearchanges are slicker than ever. A massive transformation.

But thank goodness for the extended warranty.

Thanks for the response - but given my car is well out of warranty - what's the cost for both of those... (I am dreading the answer)....?

I think Audi quoted something like £530 for the mounts. Can't recall the DMFW cost as we only stumped up for a clutch plate whilist the box was off.

I expect you can save a packet using an Indi garage though. Hopefully, your issue will be something much cheaper to fix anyway.

As I thought - not cheap.

Any thoughts or pointers on the boomy resonance anyone?

Many thanks
