Do the speakers rise out the dash like other models?

No. They don't in the A4/5 either. I believe it's A6 and above (costs £6300 in the A6). I believe the difference may be that the a3/4/5 systems use basic B&O speaker drivers but generic amplification, whereas the high end systems use B&O icepower amplification and high end tweeters from their reference series loudspeakers

I've got sub on +2, bass on +1, everything else on zero. Emphasis on front. I know others have the sub and bass turned way higher.

Yeah although the system is good in the A3/S3, it ain't nothing like what's in the higher models. They have a dedicated amp with separate channels for each speaker.

To be honest the A3 system is good, but it's not that good.

You get what you pay for in this life... even so, £750 isn't too bad. To think, even a Bose portable will set you back a couple of hundred... and only has 2 speakers, let alone the 14 you get in the A3. Plus amp, door cards and cabinets for the woofers.

I can't wait to crank mine up when I get it. I have been following the B&O threads on the forums quite a bit and most people have been increasing the sub and base from what I've read. Seems the treble is pretty spot on in most cases. Obviously I'm going to return and post in all of the threads when I've had a proper play so expect a B&O spam day :D

Only had my car three days but the B&O is one of the absolute stand-out features! It's amazing. So glad I bit the bullet and optioned it.

I am a professional musician and I set my B&O on this settings:

    1) Focus to front
    2) Treble -2
    3) Bass -1
    4) Subwoofer -3

But it is totally matter of tastes. Try yourself what best suits your ear.
And remember that the B&O is very sensitive to the quality of the recorded media. Se one setting may fit one song and not another.

Well Dan.. I suppose a lot depends on the music you are playing.

Have just been out playing with mine, listening to Queen, Dire Straits and the like, after much trial I am sticking with this for a few miles

A6/7/8 have the expensive 6K + B&O with rising speakers. My recent A7 BE had a Bose upgrade as standard which IMHO was no way as good as the B&O I had 08 and 11 5's.. superb! The B&O in the S3 8V is a vast improvement over the 8P Bose and worth every penny even for those on here who only listen to the Archers. The clarity is superb and well worth £675 after discount!

Indeed. I mainly play direct off my iPhone but as it has a mix of music from different sources I had to set up a virtual playlist of music >256kbps as I found anything lower sounds pretty terrible.

Well I have a little issue at the min maybe with my B&O. Whilst driving on the motorway I heard a popping sound coming from the dash area and it sounded like an empty bottle popping when it's been left in the car on a hot day however I had no bottle there. Can anyone advise what this may be? Climate control, dash, sound system?

Hey guys, looking for a wee bit of advice.

B&O in a saloon (not sure if that makes a difference)

My current settings based on position from 12 o'clock (except for Gala)

    Sub +3
    Bass +2
    Treble - 3
    Balance/fader over cetral armrest
    Focus all
    Gala 1
Surround -3 (not sure if surround matters without tech pack)

I'm noticing that 's' sounds in lyrics are a little hissy, can anyone suggest what it might be in my settings that could be causing this.

I mostly listen to bands like Rise Against, Bullet for my Valentine, that kinda thing, with volume between 20 and 25.

I've tried playing about but i cant quite get it right.

    Thanks in advance.

    Si :)

What is your source, and to which format have you coded your music to? (Eg 256k mp3)

I'm using an sd card and files are just the highest setting of mp3 that media player rips to. Everything else sounds fine, just the hissy s words.

    Hmmm.

The reason I asked about the coding is that sometimes a low bitrate coding can produce excessive sibilance on vocals. Just double check that it is coding the tracks to say 256 or 320 kbps CBR. Apart from that, try a old school (Commercial, not home made) CD in the slot to see if has the same problem with the ssssssss's

@steverobertsbbc is the expert on this :)

I haven't got B&O but I wish I specced it. I went with ASS and it sounds great with pop/club songs but rubbish with Rock songs, it sounds too flat.

My settings I have kept so far is

    sub +3
    bass +2
    treble +6

That is for ASS, but it might give good results with B&O, thought i'd share. I see a lot of you with treble down low, and whenever I try it I feel like the song isn't really clear, but that might be the ASS..

B&O in the A3 is amazing!
Sweet spot volume for me is around 26-32
    Sub: +3
    Bass: +1
    Treble: +3

I only notice hissing if I'm playing poor quality tracks

Old thread I know, but anyone ever fiddled with the 'source input level' when playing through Bluetooth. It's a setting that has never been mentioned and wondering if people had much experience with altering it.
