AVS Servicing - Post your quotes and dealers here.

To follow up on my previous post, this afternoon I contacted Vindis Audi in Huntingdon and am booked in for my first AVS on October 14th. Service costs £234.85 and because my Sportback will be nearly two years old, I need the brake fluid change at £78.73. Total cost will be £313.58 all inclusive of VAT.

Huntingdon seem to have received some decent reviews here (notably from David Robinson), so I'll let everyone know how I get on!

My cars booked in at Caffyns Audi Brighton for my 1st AVS. A3 3.2 Quattro.

Quoted me #213 inc vat

Parts used would be:

Oil
Oil filter
Pollen filter
Sump plug
Screen wash

Are these all the things required as I see other things listed in peoples bills ?

Well, took the car up to Huntingdon today for the service and have to say, it was an excellent experience. Arrived early and they got started on the car at 8am on the dot, while I waited around in the showroom (watching TV and reading all the RS4 and TT brochures  ). I was also shown how the MMI system works in an A8 display model, which featured the digital TV option.

They also cleaned my car inside and out (including using glass cleaner which really made a difference), and for some reason the final bill came to £301.89 which was a touch cheaper than quoted.

The staff were excellent too - I was never without a drink and after the service a guy came in to talk me through what they'd done and asked if I wanted the valet. I was there about 2.5 hours - quite a while although I had chosen to stay on-site so not Vindis' fault - but drove home happy in a clean car.

One final thing: had the brake fluid changed because the car is nearly two years old, and it really has sharpened up the brake assistance. Initially I thought this was an unnecessary service expense but clearly it's important, so don't skimp on it if the dealer asks you for a fluid change.

Got 3 quotes last week for 1st AVS service on my 2.0TDi Sportback.

Warrington £241.93
Bolton £293.02
Manchester £285.00

All inclusive of parts, VAT etc.

Bolton wouldn't match Warringtons price this time so I took it to Warrington on Saturday morning.
Came back from the shops with the misses to collect the car and they knoced off some money and gave me a winter pack (de-icer, scraper and demister cloth)

Total bill £229-04 inc VAT

Just had my first A3 service at 18.5k by Norwich Audi, they quoted me £220 in advance, the first invoice they printed up was £240, so I asked what extras had been done, they checked the bill and it came out as £187!!!

The car was cleaned thoroughly in and out (it was absolutely minging) and I'm chuffed as nuts. Considering my wife's Modus was £195 for it's first service at 12k, I think I got good value.

You forget thou Mike that for the £200 you get nothing more than £40s worth of oil. Throwing in a £10 car wash still does not smack me of value.

Guilders Sheffield

£250 quid on first service (16k) miles on A3 3.2.
Valeted properly as well, free courtsey car (well 1.6 A3 sportback)

Good, polite, informative service staff. Even sent me text message 12 hours before reminding me to fetch driving licence.

Just dropped off my car for it's first AVS service and was quoted £180 all in! Seems reasonable compared to other quotes on here so hope that won't change when I go to collect it!

Just had my first service done at 18k at Huntingdon Audi, excellent service, beautifully washed & cleaned and they replaced the glove box cover as the damper had gone, even rang me to say they were running 15 minutes late! £244. They also repainted front and rear bumpers due to lacquer peeling and slight paint mismatch recently..all under warranty, no questions. first class service unlike my previous BMW experiences where they try to convince you to be grateful that they are doing anything.

A few weeks ago 4L of the recommended Castrol Edge 5w-30 oil for the Audi AVS service cost me £42.99 at normal retail prices at my local Halfords.

For my 1st AVS service in September 2005 Huntingdon Audi charged me £24.99 for the oil.

Just had my 1st AVS service at Bolton Audi for my A3 2.0TDi S-line, excellent service £228.44 inc VAT and that included a £10 charge to remove the £1000 excess from the insurance for the courtesy car they leant me. Car was vacuumed and washed.

Best quote in my area

Bolton £218
Warrington £225
Preston £281

I'm just glad I don't live in the south given the prices you guys are expected to pay for exactly the same job!!

A guy further up the page got quoted £293.02 by Bolton in Nov, weird how yours was 218! How does the £10 charge work , sounds lke a racket to me!

Can't understand either why Migzy's dealer charges him £322 for his 3.2 and Tobes gets charged £260 by the same dealer when they both have A3 3.2s???????

Had my car in at Star Performance (Kirkcaldy,Fife.) yesterday, for it1s first AVS service at 13600 miles. With change of brake fluid, wait for it. £130.17 .

The £10 fee was to remove the £1000 excess from the courtesy car, if I hadn't paid it and had an accident in their car it'd of cost me £1000!!! Might seem like a con but I made sure I used £10 worth of diesel whist I had the car for the day!

My first service at 16,000 miles for my A3 2.0 TDI s line DSG was £272.53, including full wash and vacume , 1 litre oil top up ,and a 56 reg A3 , 170 bhp 2.0 TDI s line , courtesy car .

Just had my first AVS service done today, the DIS has been urging a Service for a couple of weeks now.

Total cost was £218, which seems to not be too bad really.

Got a couple of quotes for 1st AVS on my A3, 13,000 miles in, 2.0T

Slough Audi - £320 (estimate)
West London Audi - £360 (estimate)

I thought they were joking!

Booked it in with an audi specialist called Fontain for £250 all in.

Stoke Audi: 3rd AVS Service + Air Filter + Rear Discs & Pads - £523.22

Original front pads & discs still okay after 56,000 miles!

A3 2.0 FSI

3rd avs service at aylesbury audi £191 all in with a free screen wash
and sportback courtesy car.

car was washed and cleaned and the lovely girl hannah on reception was very helpful.

Just phoning around at the mo for a service quote for my g/fs 99T A3 1.6.

Peter Ellams VW/Audi Specialist in Huddersfield £175+vat
P Allanson VW/Audi Specialist Wakefield £140 all in
Audi Wakefield £350 inc VAT!!!!!!!!
Huddersfield Audi £260 all in

Can't believe how much Wakey Audi quoted. It costs me £210 all in inc courtessy car for a 4.5k service for my Evo with BTR in Castleford who are an Evo/Motorsport specialist, This inc ALL the fluids/filters & a full diagnostic & vehicle check:)

Craig:cool:

Mines due in a couple of hundred miles so I'm ringing round.

I've asked how much for a first variable service for my A3. No model specified.

Peter Gilder Audi, Sheffield (most local to me)

No vehicle details taken. 'About £220'. 'About?'. 'It will be £220'.

Doncaster Audi

Reg no asked for. £193.69

Huddersfield Audi

Reg no asked for. £223.09

Wakefield Audi

Reg no asked for. £290 'That seems a bit steep' 'OK, we can do it for £230'

The whole experience has left me with a feeling of impending doom :(

Just took my 16mth old 7500 mile 3.2 for its first service and made the mistake of not phoning round first.

When they gave me the bill for £280 (Including £101 for oil!!! :wtf: ) I thought I'd gone into a Ferrari dealership not Audi.

Flippin eck! Which dealership? Yours sounds very similar to mine, ie, about same age, similar mileage, which I paid £218 for.

Just dug out the printed invoice:
- Parts £30.47
- Oils - £51.46
- Labour - £104.45

Beechwood in Halesowen, near Birmingham.

Breakdown is Labour £169.20
Filer £6.69
Screw £1.16
Oil £102.15
Total £279.20

I don't know if it's been mentioned before but I may be able to shed some light on why dealers around me are either quoting around £185-£195 or £220-£230. The higher priced quotes seem to include the dust and pollen filter change. According to the service book it's due every 20k which is a damn silly time if you're on variable like me. So mine will get changed at 14k rather than me having to re-book at 20k or waiting until my second variable service which could be 32k.

This doesn't include Wakefield obviously. They just think of a number.

I paid £154 for the first AVS service on my car(9k miles on it). That was from Walton Audi.

This was my cost from Beechwood Audi (Birmingham, UK)

20K Serivce (a.k.a long life)

Cost me £250 then they wanted...

Break fluid: £76
Rear break pads: £132
Front wiper £47.82
Pollen Filter £30.55
Front passenger tyre £193 (Good year eagle F1 19")

I didn't get the above done. Will do it privately.

I just got a couple of quotes for my TDI 170 which is just wanting its first AVS.

Chester Audi
£230 (£92.50 / hour labour rate)

Pentraeth Audi
£160 (70 / hour labour rate)

Guess where it's going!

Just had my (just over) 2 year - 31000 mile variable service today and the invoice was for £206. WHich included the brake fluid change. £107 labour! Kinda glad i have the maintenance plan - even though i'd never have it again!

The dealer was John Fox Audi - Nottingham (UK).

I had a full service at Bedford Audi in Nov 2006, £450.
My rear wash wipe stopped working, took it to Hitchin Audi (about 2 mins drive from me), the hose and jet were just blocked and needed cleaning, apparently so did my wallet - £67!

List of things their doing

20k service
Brake fluid change
Haldex Oil Change
Anti freeze top up

All in at £550 including VAT

West London Audi were charging £770, labour rates apparently

Brighton Audi are also giving me a new TT 3.2 Roaster for the day, hopefully get some sun

Just had our 2.0TDi (140) in for it's first AVS service at Stirling Audi.....£275

£175 of that was labour!

Quotes:

July 06 2.0TFSi quattro
4000miles

Although its only 4000miles I do a lot of town driving so wanted the 12month service.

Edinburgh Audi £290
Glasgow Audi £290

I queried both these quotes obviously and they wouldnt reduce them. They said labour was £90/hour.

So I thought a bit and decided to get it serviced when I visit my Mum in Devon in two weeks time:

Exeter Audi £170 plus possible pollen filter.

Seriously, it's not £120 more expensive per service to run a dealership in Edinburgh....

Derby Audi - Service
A3 2.0 Tdi Sportback. Just had 1st service (a month short of 2 years)Can't really fault them, gave me a lift to work, rang to get my approval of 'extra' work (wiper blades) cleaned / hoovered / tyre wall blacked car. Only thing I feel shafted on is the price of oil £60+ !! Also did brake fluid change. Put me a Litre of oil in boot for topping up (charged of course) Total Cost £257 + VAT. Does that sound OK ?

Just had the first long-life AVS service for my A3 2.0Tdi (170bhp) at 20,000miles. Got 3 quotes in the greater Thames area:

Amersham Audi = £320 inc VAT
Camberly Audi = £295 inc VAT
Slough Audi = "about £400 I think". (?!)

The guy on the phone at Slough couldn't have been more unhelpful (or expensive!). In the end I went to Amersham because they got my car booked in within a week, as opposed to 3 weeks at Camberly.

First Service on the Audi S3:

Harrogate = £280.05
Leeds = £246.41
York = £225.25

Not sure if these are good or bad
