    Hi all.

I noticed this week that neither the red&clear light on the inside of the bootlid, nor the courtesy light on the boot ceiling are working. The other interior courtesy ceiling lights work as they should.

I have checked all bulbs (one in the boot and 2 in the courtesy light), and replaced the boot lid one as it had gone.

Locked and unlocked car, ignition on and off, and these 2 lights are still not working (I have also tried the ceiling light switch in all 3 positions).

Does anyone know which fuse corresponds to these 2 lights so I can check it.

    Is there a fuse listed?

Have you got power to the bulb? Maybe a dodgy boot microswitch.

Power for roof lights and boot lights come from the Convenience Module and supplied by various fuses.

The following circuit shows fuses associated with convenience module:

And here we see the front and mid interior lights:
The items in green shows the main power take off for the roof items, known as post [B250]

Here is the saloon boot wiring (red highlighted items are not used on the Avant),
    [IMG]
And you can see where the power is linked across - shown above in green.

And the boot lights for the Avant are shown below:

And here is the boot switch diagram:

With this info you should be able to check wire colours for breaks at the various "hinge" points on the tail gate.

    So hope this helps.

Open the boot and check on the dash to see if its showing that its open also open the boot and lock the doors if the indicators flash and the alarm sets its a break in the wiring or the micro switch

you only have to do one of the above as they will give the same answer!

Check this before anything else its the easiest and the cheapest

Thank you for the help thus far James/Woorlord/Stu.

Checked the conv. module fuses at 24 and 38 and both seem OK.

Checked the door graphic on the dash and it does not register when the boot or O/S/R door are opened.

Also (not sure if this is linked), my boot release button on the keyfob does not work currently.

So in summary, are we looking at boot micro-switch as the issue? Would this affect the rear (bootspace) ceiling lights too?

i would go for the wiring first

find where it goes in to the tail gate remove trim where you need to and peel back the rubber and check the wiring

i have the saloon and it was the wiring its a common problem is the wiring breaking yes if its a break in the wiring its not showing the door as open so wont put the lights on

as for the door i recon that will be wiring too

I have this same problem. My car isn't recognising when the boot is open. I'll have a look at the wiring at the hinges. This might seem like a daft question but is the microswitch in the tailgate lock/latch mechanism?

yeah it will be in the lock and you have to replace the whole lock unit but check the wiring first
