I know our cars' auto-windows periodically need resetting but I have a strange problem where the rear nearside window auto-closes but I have to hold the button down to open it.

I just tested with the switch in the rear and it's fine - so I guess there's a problem with the driver's button. Has anyone had an experience like this and know if it's an easy fix?

    Thanks.

Mine has done this for a while, I tried the reset procedure (I think I did it right?) but it didn't help. Car's been off the road for the past 4 months so not got any further with finding a solution. Interested to hear if anyone knows of a fix.

Yeah, I tried that too but no luck.

I presume it's something in the switch itself seeing as the rear switch in mine works. Have you tested your rear switch?

I foolishly assumed a high-end car made in 2004 would have electric windows as standard, couldn't believe it when I got it home and found keep fit window winders in the back, and no folding seats. Both retrofits I plan in future, but no rear switches to test as yet.

I have a 2013 Insignia courtesy car this week... it has DIY windows in the back. Can't believe it.

Anyway, back to thread, my switch did the same this year, rear nearside too. Except it wouldn't go up automatically, but down was fine. I replaced the switch (£40ish) and all is well.

Thanks. Was it a DIY job?

Yes, door card off (screws under long thin door trim, one at the bottom, 2 behind the tab by the handle you use to pull the door shut, pull off hard - some clips may snap, replace if you want), lots of T20 screws to undo, then it kind of pops out.

Recently had a similar problem with my drivers window. Sprayed some electrical contact cleaner (WD40 or such-like) in the switch, gave it a good wiggle for a few minutes and, hey presto, sorted. Got to be worth a try before ripping the door card off
