    Bit of a update,

I've been looking for a control unit and stumbled on the Omega rear blind control unit.
2 cables out and 3 cables in.
1 live, 1 earth, 1 switch and 2 to the blind.

I did a test fit today to make sure the relay works and stops when the blind hits top and bottom.
Here is a video (I hope).

I had to do some swapping around of the plugs to get the blind plug in to fit. Cause its a left switch and left is where my rear fogs are. I moved my rear fogs to the middle, using the front fog switch and put the blind to the left.

There is a couple of issues with this switch.
    1, Its the wrong colour.
2, Its a different angle to the B5 switches.

I might have to rethink the button.
If there is one that fits on the right hand side of them 3, possible FUNK or something. I'll go for that one.
I'll spend this weekend routing the cables and wiring it in correctly.

Scott. Do away with the front fog button, the rear button puts em both on. Or as you say. Use the funk button or something stealthy.

I don't have front fogs. I use the front fog button for the rears.
I'm happy to lose the front fog switch for something else.
    I'll need to get looking.

Time for some bad images of the blind switch at night and my hand with some ambient lighting.

Its a little mod and I doubt any one would really notice but I notice and I'm happy.
I also want to show people. :)

Just a subtle little mod and something I thought about doing since I rehung the doors.
The Pre-Facelift striker plates are a bit dull and mine was going rusty where the doors dropped and was rubbing on them.
TonyA4 had a facelift avant that he was breaking so I bought the striker plates off him.
Easy to do, just unbolt and bolt in. Job done.

Had a quick clean session with a friend and took some pics.
Got home, installed lightroom 3.6 and had a play with the images.
Thought I'd share said images, so here they are.
Playing about with the sliders and not really thinking about what i'm doing but some turned out ok.

Like most people who owns a A4 or a A4 and even other modern cars with out the roof guttering. You get water running off the roof or windscreen down your arm, all over the drivers door and in to the switches. Right pain in the ass.

Last week I ordered a set Team Heko Wind Deflectors for my Avant. I finally got around to fitting them today and here is some pics.

    With out wind deflectors

    Fitting is relatively easy.
Peel off the double sided sticky tape and push the rears in to position. Shut the windows to make sure they are correct and not trapping any thing. Open the windows insert the clip at the larger end of the rear deflector. Shut the window, job done.

Fronts a bit more tricky. Same thing with the tape and and closing the window once fitted but getting the deflector in to the window frame is a bit harder. You need to get the bottom in as much as you and at the top right. Then twist and bend a little bit in the middle to fit the rest in. They are very bendy in the middle bit so you'll be ok.
Once in and happy, push the two retaining clips in at either end, stand back and admire your work.

Oldskool mention fitting a pissrat sun glasses holder to replace the grab handle on the B5.
I found one on ebay and thought i'd give it ago.
    So I did.

Here is some crappy, out of focus images. I will get better later.

    A small change.
I've often thought about removing the wood trim from my car (the granddad comments was getting a bit old) and I thought I'd try something else before I went mental and bout all new trims.
I did/do like the wood, its not all in your face like wood in some cars but I do like the black look as well.
I got hold of some wrap from a friend and set about changing the wood to black.

First up was the gloss black.

I thought it looked very smart, kept in with the original gloss of the wood but after driving the car yesterday I thought it looked a bit to plastic.

Next up is the matt look.

I prefer this one. The subtleness of the matt matches nicely with the matt look of the dash and leather.
So it wins. I'm keeping it. :) I'm off to buy some more.

Audrey is in the garage today for new rear axle bushes and new wheel bearings.
Thought they might need replacing and the garage confirms it.

On the brighter side, she's got all new suspension parts. Nothing left to replace I think.

After siding with the matt trim over the gloss, I used up the last of my matt wrap on the centre console.
I did the top, the middle and the ash tray.
It should hopefully match the dash trim when I get round to doing it.

You can't really tell and it don't help the picture is rubbish!!

With some thought, a need for change and to try something different.
I tried my hand at wrapping my dash trims. I liked the wood that was there wanted something different so I went for Matt black and got a bit carried away.
I did the door trims, dash trim (the little bit,I'm not removing the centre console to get the big dash trim out, that can wait till April), centre console and the bit around the gear stick (Not the chrome bit, I like that).

Here is what it looks like.

Been toying the idea of getting a Bonnet protection system (Bra) but was never very sure on them.
Since rs4wannab was breaking his motor and selling the Bra at a reasonable price I thought it.

I never bought it for the Euro look or what ever it is. I bought it for the soul reason of protecting my bonnet from stone chips and that's it.

Here is the pictures. I'm ready for the hate. lol

My mate had the Skoda version in his Octavia and I thought it was brilliant.
So I nicked it and built my own.

First, take 1 Audi A4 Avant.

Second, take some wood and throw it in the back of the the avant.

Third, arrange the wood in to some form of order.

Forth, Cut some more wood to help strengthen it and arrange that wood as well.

Fifth, Lay the lid and check for sizes.

Sixth, check lid for hinge location and rotation.

Seventh, Place trim on top to check for colour and size.

    Eighth, Load foam and film.

I need to cover it in the carpet, trim the foam and add the finishing touches.
Handles, load hooks and the bits that goes in the foam.

Did a bit more today to try and get this finished off.

Got some foam, cut up to size, cut shapes out of it and fitted some bits in.

    In the boot.

To help stop the items from rattling on the lid I carpet the top of the lid but the black trim I used is to thick (I think I said that further up). So I only trimmed the storage sections and it looks utter **** but since it will be down most of the time I'm not bothered.
I'll use the rest of the black trim to do the underside and inside of the box and what I have left of the grey to do the top sections so what you see matches.
