I gather no one has bothered with this ?

BTW I have been quoted £190 for an a/c service by by dealer is this expensive?

    Hi Tobes

I have just had my air con compressor replaced under warranty and the car was 2 1/2 years old and never had its aircon serviced, so i guess the answer is NO!

In fact the dealer never even asked. They just said that if it was a warranty job it would be done, but if it had lost its gas they would have to replace it and this was chargable. I was quoted about the same from an Audi dealer. I then got quotes from aircon specialists and was quoted 1/2 that price and less. As low as £70+VAT if i remember correctly. Any way turned out to be the compressor and all replaced free.

Seems a bit of a grey area?

Haven't personally seen anything saying it has to be done to keep the warranty so perhaps it is just a recommendation as is checking your tyres weekly?

I'd be loathed to spend nearly £200 to get it serviced after 2 yrs when I've only done about 8k miles. Unless it is proved you have to have it done, I'd personally leave it until it wasn't working 100%.

The sticker they put on the car reminds you of the need for an AVS Service and Brake Fluid change but doesn't mention anything about an aircon service.

    Found this:

Audi know less than squat about air-con. If you're having it serviced, that it to an auto air-con specialist. They'll be half the price of an audi dealer, and they'll do a good job of it.

Cheers for the link, is a very good read.

Is the brake fluid service actually stipulated in the warranty book ? (soz don't have mine to hand) or the a/c service in the service book ?

So it sounds like people on here are not getting this done on the 2 years or will not be when their cars are 2 years old ?

Agree this does seem a very grey area but would hate Audi to get out of a warranty claim if the a/c fails.

Brake fluid is in the service schedule:-requires changing every 2 years.
The A/C on the wifes golf stopped working after 5 years, had it tested and it was low on gas, got it regassed and it stopped working again last year at 9 years old, condenser was leaking, now replaced and going strong again. Our S3 is 6 years old and the A/C is fine but it has only done 20 odd thousand miles :) My recommendation is not to bother
