I would imagine they check the condition of your battery and the condition of the water / antifreeze.

Then check your tyres and brakes.

Then they tell you your batteries f00ked you new need a complete new braking system and your antifreeze / water needs changing .

Oh Sir, and you need a new 1 Litre Oil Bottle, that'll be £20 and an indicator bulb needs replacing, that'll be a further £25.

Have had both checks by dealer, all free . Found an air coolant hose leak on first check and rear shock problem on second check. All repaired under warranty, plus free coolant and engine oil top up.
Very good service from Audi Camberley.

    LOL !

    The oil thing is true.
They don't ask if you want it,they don't check if you need it.
You could have a new bottle sitting on your desk or in your garage.
A new one just gets chucked in the boot and added to the bill anyway.

I heard a wee story about the local Audi dealer t'other day.
Acquaintances of ours have an A3 on some sort of PCH deal.
They put it in for a service and they got a call saying it needed four new tyres,at 19000 miles !
The bloke informed them it was full maintenance,so the tyres were their problem.
On collection of the car,no new tyres.
When he queried it,they said it was "a mistake"

    Yeah....coughbullshitcough....right...sure it was...

Phoned the dealer just to enquire on the checks.

They said they cannot provide a free check and would charge me 1/2 hrs labour.

I gather the "free" depends on the dealer?

Couldn't agree more, stories like this expose them for what they are and really should be reported to Audi UK.

When are Audi UK going to sort out the dealers?

As long as the cars sell, they won't give a flying fig.
When the sales figures start dropping, just you watch though.
