I received a call from East Kent Audi advising that I should bring my car in for an update thats available for it, the guy on the phone didnt seem to know much about the update itself when I queried it, said it had something to do with the efficiency of the on board computer systems. He advised that the update takes about 4 hours, and it would be covered under warranty so I wont pay for anything either.

Has anyone else had this call from dealers about this update?

I had an update just before Christmas when I took my car in for something else. I was told it was to do with the beam reach of the xenon headlights. Took two hours.

The car wash is 'free' for a reason. Mine was washed by a young lad (saturday boy?) while it was getting my software update. He'd obviously been using either the workshop 'team sponge' or the back of an old frying pan, coz the paintwork was swirled beyond belief! I had to rewash and refinish her myself when I got home to get her looking nice again. Most threads on here about showroom washes or PDIs say avoid them like the plague!

    Cheers, Paul.

Hi Vimy. I work in the parts at EKA. As advised I'm not sure how "clean" you like your car i.e run of the mill or like me ocd but I'd be more than happy to do it myself than let the valeters loose on it?

You'd have thought by now they'd at least work out to ditch the sponges and get some proper wash mitts - cheap to do any will get rid of quite a lot of the problem!

At our dealership they actually use wash mitts however they insist on the blade drying technique followed by spraying tar and glue all over it to help them dry it which all it does is just remove any wax/sealants that are on the car then drag an old chamois all over it! :(

Are they really that bad? I would have expected more from main dealers.
Think I'll have to tell them to give that car wash a miss.

Thanks Cemerason, I appreciate the offer but I've changed my appointment to Maidstone now as it's closer to home. I appreciate your offer though.

I wasn't aware I had made an offer! I'll have to be careful about what I say, clearly :p

Every time my last 3 A3's have been into the dealers I always leave a printed A4 Sheet behind the steering wheel which states PLEASE DO NOT WASH AND VALET. After my first A3 looked worse when I picked it up than when I took it in paintwork wise.
