    Hi all,

Took my A4 into Audi on Friday to have the two coils replaced and its come back significantly down on power, basically the power i gained from the remap has now gone.

I didn't ask for an ecu update, and they didn't tell me they were doing it either and on the work sheet there is no mention of it

Im gonna ring up and go ballistic tomorrow. Just interested to see if anybody else has had un-authorised modification done to their car whist at audi.

Also is there any way using vag com etc i can see when the ecu was last updated so I some proof. I imagine their first line of defense will be to deny ever doing any work!!

Audi don't have the software or knowledge to map or de-map a car. They would have cleared the faults in the ecu after they'd fitted the coilpacks,

I'd phone and explain what's happened, no point going in all guns blazing! Explain you had the car mapped, had the coilpack issue that they fixed and it's now down on power. It may be another fault that makes it look like this.

They may need proof, do you have a rr printout from when you got the map? Might need a new one to show current power.

You can measure the maf readings with vagcom, if all is well with the car the maf reading should be 80% of your cars bhp. So Standard 190 bhp engine would show around 150, mapped figure of 220 (just a guess??) about 175

When mine went in for the coil pack recall i asked if it was going on the diagnostic machine because at the time i had a coolant problem, they said no it wasn't but if i wanted it to then it would be £115 which is 1hours labour charge, so you could possibly have another fault like C17LJR suggests.

I will plug in the car shortly and check the above. I know the fault theory is a valid one but it drove much much better before it had the work done. Its not driving badly now its just down on power. 70-80 on the motorway takes an age now where as before it was alot quicker.

I have proof, it was done at custom code HQ about 5 months ago.

Is it not possible audi could have updated the ecu software with a new version and thats wiped it clear

Just a thought have you had a look in your engine bay to make sure they have not 'accidently' knocked a pipe off or disconnected anything by mistake..

you can check if its been flashed in address 01 but there only going to run a svm update if there is a outstanding workshop action and there is none for your engine, also to answer the other suggestion audi or vw can over right a remap if there is a engine ecu update available

something is not right there i have the same car but not quattro and 70-80 takes a second, maybe the coil packs are faulty... pretty sure but for our cars there are no software updates at the moment, i know mine hasn't had any and like yours mine is mapped. scan it and see if anything comes up, if not contact audi and get them to check it for you and hope that the ecu hasn't been flashed

Audi do- as they issue software updates to calibrations as/when required. I know several people who have fallen foul of this with remapped ECUs that have an updated calibration flashed, overwriting their original map.

Also I'd read the warranty T&C if you've had this work done on that, as I'm sure they won't let you claim if you've modified the car.
