I bought my Audi A3 sportback on Audi finance and when the V5 comes I want to put my private reg which is on retention onto the car. Question is once I change it over and put the plates on the car, do I need to tell Audi finance?

Yes I think they charge a £50 'admin fee' for it

Never thought to tell mine tbh, it will probably be in the t&c's so maybe I should tell them.
    But £50, they're having a laugh!

When ever I have changed it over with the car insurance company it's been free so don't know how they can justify a £50 admin charge

Some do - I went thro a broker and I've never been charged admin fees for anything. Change of reg / nominated drivers etc. And it was cheaper than on-line! Result all round then.

However, the barstewards in the finance house I used hit me for £50 when I put my private plate on - and yes, it's in the T&C's.

Still waiting on the paperwork back from dvla. Have contacted Audi through the Audi finance website to see if there will be an admin charge.

Plates are now on the car and I contacted Audi finance through their website and there's no charge for swapping to a cherished plate so I'm happy. Going to spend the money I thought I'd have to spend on the admin fee and buy some S3 pedals :-D

Sorry to revive this old thread.
I've just bought a new registration number and got the certificate within 2 days, good old dvla.
My new Audi has been built and is awaiting shipment.
However my dealer seems to think there could be tax implications by registering the car on the new number. It just sounds to me like they are dragging their heels /don't want to register it on my plate.

they done the same when i ordered mine, told them to put my plate to retention on my name, registered on new plate, got car, changed plates myself, and audi even paid the £105, result.
