    Hi guys,

For those who have MMI® Navigation plus incl. MMI® touch but perhaps not Audi Connect, is it possible to still get Audi Connect?

I know for a fact in Australia, the Audi Connect isn't available for us yet (due 2015). However, if we have MMI® Navigation plus incl. MMI® touch can we use Option 1 in this guide to get it working? http://www.audi.gr/etc/medialib/ngw...1.File.pdf/2003039_connect-quick-guide-en.pdf

Option1: connecting via remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP).

Has anyone tried? Or can try?

I doubt it, your MMI unit likely won't have the modem installed to support this.

Can it use the modem from my phone?

No, RSAP just allows the car to use your SIM card as though it were its own, not all the phone's features

The PDF suggests otherwise - it claims that Connect can be used only with the connection with a mobile phone (I know in the UK we are not 'allowed' to have this option, but the PDF from Audi seems to suggest that there's no real technical reason it couldn't be done??)

I've wondered the same thing, and wondered if it's something that could be fiddled with using VCDS??

I think we've got all the hardware necessary. Screen 7" variant, MMI touch etc.. if the system can use our data connection from phone, then it should be a software modification to get it working.

Problem is I am still waiting for my new car to be delivered so I can play with it and tweak it.

Was hoping some owners now could try it?

These threads on MotorTalk.de would suggest you can enable it with a software upgrade and a change using VCDS.

    Audi connect, 'Full connectivity' update (-> Daten-SIM & telefonieren per HFP)? : Audi A3 8V, 8VA & 8VS
    MMI touch Software Update : Audi A3 8V, 8VA & 8VS

Here is the interesting bit translated to English.

"Who has a version number from MHIG_EU_AU_P0337 and the "Full Connect" feature really needs must with VCDS (I have used v12.12.2) the adjustment in the unit "5F Informationselek. I." change.
"Present" Set the adjustment value "(24) Vehicle configuration Sim_card_mode_switch" on.

After a reboot, then you have under "Phone" -> "Settings" -> "Phone calls about" two choices "vehicle" or "mobile phone"."

I would give it a go but I don't have a VCDS cable.

I'm 99% certain that P0337 is the software version I have.

    edit: actually, I have MHIG_RW_AU_P0337

I'd guess the RW is "Rest of World" as opposed to "Europe"

Don't know that I'm willing to try putting the software on mine without someone confirming that it won't brick my MMI.....

Micky, can I ask when was your car built? Assuming it is an au variant? You just need a VCD to test it out now.

How are you going to link your car to an account at my.Audi.com to use the Connect features? AFAIK only Audi can do this, although happy to be proved wrong!

    ^^^^

This above. Can't be done unless you have an account to connect. Has to be entered on the MMI, and must be enabled on the Audi servers.

That said, if you create a myAudi account, you will be given an activation code for Audi Connec IF you have the MMI+ system, which we do. Bit useless as we can't enter it anywhere. But if the above firmware/VCDS works, then might work for us. That said, the FW version listed above is for the EU. I do not think it will work on our cars, as the FW will check the VIN/ECU for compatibility.

I have full connect in my 2014 S3 but there is no sign of rSAP (tried connecting with my HTC One with the android-rSAP.com app that I used on my previous S4 and A6 both with mobile phone prep high)
As a double check, I tried an old Nokia which also has rSAP.
    Neither worked.

When I queried it, I was told by Audi that they are not doing rSAP in any cars in the future, as it is a dead protocol that mobile phone makers are no longer supporting.
