audi a6 2.5 quattro v6 tdi auto gearbox problem

hi guys, new on here. i have done some searching on google for a answer and come back loads of things, ive tried them and nothing has worked.

the problem is that when i select a mode ie drive reverse, it wont show up on the display. (ill post a vid)



it feels like its stuck in third gear when it is in drive or sport.

anyway i have had the battery disconnected for a few days, and nothing. check the transmission module and ecu under the carpets and i have found water in the black box's so i have dried them out and still nothing.

the only thing i can think of is having vag com plugged in and see whats going on, the only thing is i dont have vagcom and don't no anyone with it.

Water in the ECU is never good, It may be toast. However, the other reason for the selections not showing is the "selector gate" going faulty, It uses magnets and hall sensors to determine what position you have put the shifter in. Do the PRND on the shifter change?
