Hi people

I did got myself an audi A4 (b8) Avant a few months ago, and I have a few problems.
the 1 st one is on the steering wheel, the controls for the audio don't work and they don't light up.
the 2 nd problem it's with the warning light for the airbag being on all the time.
I have been informed that this may be related to a fault on the clock spring .
does anyone had the same problem? or have any suggestions before I take the car to the stealer!
thanks.

Slip ring could be faulty or the airbag loom maybe have been unplugged, needs diagnosing, was it bought from audi?

Hi
not from Audi, it was from a car dealer.
the car only had 21k miles at the time.

How long you actually had the car from them?

Whereabouts in the country are you, as I could look at it for you location dependent.

ok, i have some logs with the errors

the one that most scares me is the gearbox, any ideas?
thanks.

Thats a fake/clone/counterfeit cable.

i don't know, it was done by a friend that works at skoda!

Sorry I cant help further because of the cable, get a genuine or scanned with genuine & I'll be happy to help further.

you wont help me because he did use a clone/fake cable,? or because these results could be wrong?

This forum does not support the usage of counterfeit cables, given Ross-tech give free help to users when possible & thus we should respect them as a company that produces such a great tool, to support users with counterfeit cables shows disrespect for them & thus puts at risk there support for the forum as such which for allot of members is worth allot more to them, other vag forums also take this stance & tbh much harder actions.

As a genuine seller of the cables, I do not support usage of the chinese counterfeits & therefore cant offer further help until such time you utilise a genuine cable, sorry but I'm sure you can understand the logic of myself, why should I support people that can afford nice cars, but use chinese knockoffs which not only puts there cars at risk but tbh is money down the drain eventually.

If you can utilise a genuine interface, feel free to post up the log again & I amongst others would be happy to help when we have the time.

I didn't know that he used a fake cable, I left the car with him and he send me an email with the errors.
I understand your point, but why should I pay now £100+ at Audi, to get the same diagnostic?
If anyone else wants to help I’ll appreciate.
I just don't want to get ripped off be the dealer, and get a repair bill for something that don’t need to be replaced.

With respect, running these cars isnt cheap anyway, vcds isnt just to get your log, it will help you to find the cause, clear the errors, test, recode etc etc, lots of functions & your mate tbh shouldnt be putting counterfeit cables onto your car as you never really know what effect it may have, what if he shutdown or caused more problems, what would your responce be to him then, he should as a hopefully responsible skoda technician, know not to use chinese knockoffs on other peoples cars, whose to say he hasnt caused any of those codes, food for thought.

Depending where you are, I would of looked at it for you, but as he's a tech surely he can resolve the issues for you?

you are right, but i understand more about Ants than cars.
I'm in Jersey (channel islands), he's a car seller not a tech.

thanks anyway for you time and help.

Thats even worse, salesmen messing with technical stuff isnt the best idea, unless they were a former technician.

Hey I'd go anywhere if I was paid, Jersey is closer than some of my UK jobs lol.
