AUDI A4 PROJECTOR HEADLIGHT

contact the seller and ask him if what he is selling are 2 piece or 1 piece -his pic is of two piece but he`s description is crazy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

he has nicked the details posted by the usual 2 piece headlight auctions and added a bit of his own so its very confusing= find out what you are bidding for.

note- the auction you posted has the seller registered in canada so speak to him regarding the import tax and vat you may incur- depending on how much the auction goes up for you may be better off getting from ebay germany. (2 piece are around £120 ish no mods required- 1 piece require mods on pre-faclift but look better)

they are stock 2 piece a4 ones - ive bought the 2 piece clear projector ones as shown in that ebay auction you posted.

if you want to see pics of 2 piece projector on the car- search under the user Id of "snoop" as he posted pics of his car with them on a little while ago.

I got mine from a seller in Taiwan- on ebay.com for £155 delivered.

If you want some get them from ebay.de as that is only £120 ish as I read on here somewhere after I got mine- there one big factory making them all iirc so doesnt really matter where you get them.

piece of p1ss to fit as just go straight in, come with 2 adapters- you use the one relevant (clear instructions) as the headlight adjuster motor changed over the years.

Im waiting for my car to be dropped off, had a new bumper fitted so got the bodyshop to fit lights too.

Im not sure though if they have integrated fog light as your current headlamp does though- so bear that in mind.

Having inspected them up close I can tell you that quality isnt up to oem standard, but fine for the price, they dont have the rubber surround the audi ones do.

A few people have them on here and no complaints posted so seem ok- If I find they get water in them (as was reported when they first came out ill remove the rubber seal from the stock headlamp and fit on there and also go round them with silicone sealent

Basicly your choices are:

1) stick with dull old stock
2) 2nd best option 2 piece- huge improvement on standard and cheap
3) best option but more expensive and needs un-reversible mod (bit of inside of the wing needs to be cut- easy to do) but as its all one piece looks the best.

If your picky- option three

otherwise option 2- as you can always remove and sell the new lights when you sell the car.

Hope it helps /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

Have now received my 2 peice projector lights and the verdict is......

EXTREMELY POOR QUALITY /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif

1. Terrible finish on the lights
2. Terrible Fit
3. One side light dosent work!
4. The fixings for the side indicators are SHOCKING!
5. I'll think of more!!

I have them fittet atm, but i'm thinking of putting the old lights back in! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif

HUGE WARNING to anyone considering these, get the one peice ones.

Morning Derek

Firstly despite owning these myself, Im not going to defend them -as as I said above in, quality is NOT up to oem standards. (see my description above) but at least five others members on here have these and all were happy with them.

can you post pics to demonstrate your point?

1) When you say terrible finish on the lights- what do you mean? I agree the finishing between the housing and glass isnt perfect (see earlier mention of silicone/oem rubber seal) , but the glass part themselves when bonnet closed look fine to me.

2) what were the fitment issues like? what caused the problems?

3) Electrics wise, just wires going to the bulb from the connector- so do these look ok?

4) The fixtures for the side indicators are terrible, I agree, little flimsy plastic to slide in. But iirc the oem ones also slide in though sturdier, and with headlights once in then in for good so I assumed wouldn't matter so much.

5) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

For the money, I thought they were fine; you do get what you pay for.

Return them, or stick them up on ebay, you shouldnt lose much money if at all.

Will post pics of mine on the car hopefully sometime today.

one piece new can be bought from dealerships, but possible cheaper from www.vagparts.com, try eurocarparts and german and swedish too. 2nd hand from scrappies is always worth a look into.

The connectors changed, but wires stayed same so you will need to modify; not hard to do. (either fit new connector, fit wires direct or use Dremmel to modify new connector to accept old and seal the gaps with silicone sealent/other.

Evning /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

After having a proper look in the light (Considering i fitted them in the dark! (****)
There not quite as bad as i first thought /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif The wiring problem is fixed as there never was a wiring problem with the side lights, the fkin fuse had blown (DOUBLE ****)

Finish on the reflective chrome inside the light is crap.
Finish around the light is crap
Fitting the side indicators is crap
Fit on the car is crap i.e. when the bonnet is shut theres a gap accross the top and where the grille is on the car, i will take some pics tommorow to let you see.

Kind of reluctant to go and spend more money for similar effect atm, so not sure what to do, unless i can sell these 2 peice ones i'll prob wait a bit.

In the light/night from a distance they look great as good as i could have expected.

Think they need set properly gona pop down to a local garage tommorow see if they can set them up a bit better but the light seems alot better than the std lights these replaced.

Oh well see what happens /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Cheers for the help guys, sorry for the moans...

these are mine- are yours the same fit? Car only just back from bodyshop yesterday- notice the superb paintwork /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/1luvu.gif

Excursion where did you get them for £85, is it inc vat and del? if so im very tempted to change myself. oem 2 piece are £120 or something so always assumed they would be more.

will know better and check next time doh! as 1 piece rule!

These are US 1 piece

From this pic it seems the 2 piece and 1 piece fit, in terms of gap left, will be more or less the same looking at the top gap on the pic below and considering mine is more close up.

what you think?

But as i have stated a few times on here I will eventually move to 1 piece, but lots of things I want to do at moment so happy for now.

Derek- if you copy and paste the sellers auction on ebay, likely chances are you will get your money back so the option definately is there for you

Hi mate,

Yeah gap is probs the same but looks worse on my car as its silver, or maybe i'm being overly picky hehe /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif

Will post pics in the morning /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/snore.gif

Cheers

Looking at yours Yaseen, they look very nice hehe my mind is fryed! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh_roll.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh_roll.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif
Paint job looks the business aswell! more pics?

The U.S. ones are nice too but the amber puts me off those.

Dereck- what puts most people off is that they are also only LHD /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The black rubber seal on top of oem lights cause the lights to have little less gap I think- just looked on Excursions site, his look lush.

Paintjob is perfect, I was dreading something to be wrong eg swirls etc but nope. Bodyshop had car for 5 weeks plus as very busy, had to chase them so much!! but satisfied. Are Mercedes approved and local Audi stealer ship reccomended /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Pics will follow on a new thread ive started when I get to do some /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yaseen, that's nt a US spec light in that photo, it's one of ours.

As for my lights, one came from Four rings and the other from another VAG parts specialist in Doncaster. £80 cash.

Derek - I spent a good 10 minutes playing about with the lights to get the fit spot on, if you get them angled down slightly it looks a mess along the top edge. Just persevere and you can get them looking good.

Mark- sensibly speaking yes, but technically no

its the after pic- nicked it off audiworld tech on clear corner mod /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

see what I mean- the b5 guru /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif the cover over indicator bulb is definately there so must be euro

Doh, just double checked- its on the US site, but some guy doing it on e-codes.

Ive seen your cars and you at work- I should know better than to argue with you /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

Cheers for the tips will have a play around with the placement,
Other thing i noticed, with the silvertech bulbs in the indicators there not very bright
Hope their legal?

At work 7am on a Sunday eek /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/vomit.gif

Hi I'm thinking of updating my head-lights as well (98 A4 se) Not sure whether to go for the two piece or obe piece. Just wondering if you did update the lights are you meant to disclose this to your insurance company as the car has been "modified" from the manufacturers "standard" specifications. Any thoughts appreciated

best bet- yes always do

non-performance mods dont add that much so you should be fine

also means if they get damaged etc your covered for new ones

For future searches

After looking at pics of my car with the projectors, even though they are better than stock- my advice is to do it proper and just get 1 piece.

DEFO yes, always go for the best option- especially as not so expensive to buy them.

plus modifiying the wing will be fun /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hi All,

First chance i've had to post pics of these /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Alot happier with them, but i might be interested in selling them if anyones interested (Aberdeen)

Cheers
