Hi was wondering if anyone can help? My Audi a4 2.5 tdi won't start. I was towed home by the rac last week after he spent 2 hours trying to get it started. The rac said it was showing a fault code 01318 power control module/ fuel injection pump intermittent, ecu blocked intermittent. I don't know where to go from here, whether it's worth repairing as my cars 11 years old and not sure exactly what the problem is and what the cost will be. Also does anyone know someone reputable who knows about audi's, I'm in the Birmingham area. Thanks dawn

Adams24 is the expert on the V6 tdi so hopefully he'll be along to help soon.

The pump's EDC aka brain is shot, a transistor is blown inside the pcb, some eastern europeans folks repair these however i preffer to have the entire pump rebuilt with new seals, timing pistons and new edc and solemoid valves as well. The pump is wearing internally as well and to fit a new Edc means strapping the pump on a Bosch test bench for about 4 hours- that's where the money go ! The new computer is empty so the pump it needs calibrating before "burning" the program im the chips !

Thanks for the replies. I will have to do without a car until after Xmas and then find someone to have a look at it for me. By the look of things it sounds as if it will be an expensive repair. Can anyone give me a rough idea as to how much it will cost as I will have to weigh up if it is worth it as my car won't be worth much now as its 11 years old. Thanks again Dawn

hi:
I have an Audi A4 2.5 v6 TDI 2004 (b6), and since September that it is in the garage because of problems with the injection pump, first bought the electronic part (edc) and I again put the pump. the car does not start, so I decided to buy a bomb in second hand with warranty, once placed in the car, got in it, do not start. In VCDs diagnostics says: without communication with pump, immobilizer stops the start of the engine
Apparently, according to what researched and the mechanic, the pump requires a password, which he places with the help of VCDs and accepts the code but when you restart all comes back to what it was before, in other words the pump does not accept be recoded. one of the solutions given to me would be the pump is reset to then be coded. I wonder if there is any possibility to do this? not mentioned but at this point I have 3 pumps one in the car, another one with the electronica part (edc) new, and last one in home disassembled. by the way i live in ahsford kent. thansk in advance for listnings and reply´s

You need both the key and PIN code from the donor car as well as the pin from your own car to program a second hand pump. A brand new EDC comes open to be coded so all you need for a brand new one is the pin code from your own car. An edc however does need to be matched and calibrated to whatever pump you use. Speak to a Bosch specialist such as Diesel Bob who can explain to you what needs done.
