Hi,

Does anyone know if an exhaust back box for a 1.8t will fit a normal 1.8 non-turbo?

Want to know before I take the plunge on an exhaust just incase.

Got a few links for some opinions aswell.

I'm looking for a relatively cheap back box with a nice sound.

Cheers in advance.

I don't think they will it. They are not the same bore size iirc. 1.8T pipe diameter is bigger I think

Ah crap.
How come on some of the above auctions the sellers claim the exhausts can fit to cars with all size engines?
Does it involve adaptors or something?
The worst thing is there are hardly any reasonably priced exhausts on the market for the 1.8 non-turbo it's so frustrating.

well only one of them is claiming that it will fit and it's in Belgium. I wouldn't risk buying it and having to return it. One link if for a 1.9tdi and the other 2 links clearly state that they are for 1.8T engine.

Bit I guess an adpator might do the job ;)

Oops my bad.
I'm guessing you have a 1.8t then?
I got mine really cheap so can't really complain but do wish I had the 1.8t.
Do you know of any exhausts makers that do one for the 1.8 non-turbo?
I have been looking for absolutely yonks.

So I'm guessing from your link that most Golf MK4 exhausts will fit the equivalent Audi?
I always had a hunch that it was possible just didn't want to take the risk.
Thanks for your help.
Damn those exhausts are crazy expensive. £300 odd quid :wtf:

yeah, I have a golf mk4 catback on mine. Had to cut the rear valance, but imo it fits much better than an A3 one.
look for a 2nd s/s one.

Haha the thought never even crossed my mind.
Thanks again.
There is actually a performance shop near where I live that sell the Milteks but also Piper exhausts, they are cheaper and they do just the back box which is what I was after. But it is still £210 and that'snot including installation... :ermm:

lol...was joking mate. shouldn't cost much to get it installed. You can even DIY

Lol I know.
And hmm would be fun. I have exams coming up though so would be a bitch to have to do that aswell, as much as I would love to do it.
Thanks for your help man.
