Audi a3 8p 2.0 tdi sport (04) power loss and cut out!

    Was coming home from work today and my car just lost all power and then cut out.. it now wont start although it trys to turnover.. Once left for a few minutes it starts and then slowly cuts out again.. Now i thought i could here screeching rattly noises from the l/h/s of thengine.. Could this be my alternator away? Help please!!!

    I had the same problem. I lost power and the max speed was 50km/h. Finally was a turbo tube it lost preassure.

    Turbo might of colapsed do not try to start again.

    Does it happen as quick as it collapsing and thats it? What do u suggest i do now?

    remove pipe from turbo and have a look fidle see if its turbo .

    Just had car towed back to the house.. Upon ignition going on im getting oil pressure warnings? Checked the oil and now topped it up. Does the engine have a safety mec that will stop it starting if the oil level is too low?

    check oil pump ?

    check turbo ?

    As tdi-man says - DO NOT TRY TO START THE CAR

    Needs diagnostic scan to identify the problem.

    Sounds like your turbo has gone pop and the engine oil has wasted away through the exhaust. Did you not see plumes of white smoke? Do not start the engine, with the low oil, it will soon damage the engine!

    Defo looking like the turbo :/ much would i be looking for repair?

    midland turbos might beable to recon your unit its about 180 + vat trade

    or if u thinking of a remap later i would get a hybrid unit prices for 600 upwards

    Recon turbo incl.new oil pipe and all the bits incl. labour cost me £695. at an independent VAG specialist.

    Fortunately I had aftermarket warranty with Warranty Direct and they paid £500 of it !

    Take it to the garage first to see what damage the turbo has. Any broken bits may end up in the intercooler.

    Ive only had the car 4 weeks from the dealer i bought it from.. So im assuming they will be forking out for it!
