Hi. My name is Eirik and I live in Norway. I have a 2005 A3 3.2 VR6 DSG.

I have a big problem with the Haldex system. It spins on the front wheels when accelerating. But sometimes it seams like its actual working. But most of the times it don’t.

I performed a diagnose with VAG-com yesterday and got the following error codes:

    Diagnose 1:

    Address 22: AWD Labels: 1K0-907-554.lbl
    Part No: 1K0 907 554
    Component: HALDEX 4Motion 0101
    Coding: 0000001
    Shop #: WSC 00000 000 00000
    VCID: EAD08990C564499

    3 Faults Found:
    00448 - Haldex Clutch Pump (V181)
    014 - Defective - Intermittent
    00003 - Control Module
    014 - Defective - Intermittent
02248 - Valve for Controlling Clutch Operating Angle (N373)
    014 - Defective - Intermittent

Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 1K0-907-379-MK60-A.lbl
    Part No: 1K0 907 379 E
    Component: ESP ALLRAD MK60 0103
    Coding: 0021128
    Shop #: WSC 06435 000 00000
    VCID: 346CD7E857204F9

    1 Fault Found:
01324 - Control Module for All Wheel Drive (J492)
    013 - Check DTC Memory - Intermittent

The errors was deleted, then I did a test-drive. Still spinning on the front wheels. Defiantly no haldex :-\
Performed a new diagnose an got only this error:

    Address 22: AWD Labels: 1K0-907-554.lbl
    Part No: 1K0 907 554
    Component: HALDEX 4Motion 0101
    Coding: 0000001
    Shop #: WSC 00000 000 00000
    VCID: EAD08990C564499

    1 Fault Found:
    00448 - Haldex Clutch Pump (V181)
    014 - Defective - Intermittent

Can someone please help me sort this problem out. Is it the Haldex controller or the pump??

    Regards,
    Eirik

    Thanks for reply

Yes looks like that from the error codes. But I have found links to other threads saying that a faulty controller could cause error on the pump.

We ran a test on the pump from the diagnose software. I did not hear any sound under the car though.

Your haldex priming pump is dead, happened on our R32 (uses the same diff), you need to replace it, you will also need refill with haldex oil as it comes out when you fit a new pump. It can be done easily (i did mine on the driveway with axle stands), just 4 allen key bolts hold it on.

Sounds good :) Hopefully it will only be the this pump. What do you think about the other fault codes?
Do you know where I can buy a new pump and what they cost?

Also the strange this is that sometimes the haldex kicks in and works for a short time. Did the R32 act like that when the pump was dead?

    Regards,
    Eirik

Looks like a repair set for the pump is avalible that includes a new pump, around £165

New Haldex is about £1175 :faint:

I just got my hands on a complete Haldex diff from a 2007 Golf MKV R32 with 20.000km on it for just 250£

So think I would go for that :)
