audi a3 2.0 tdi 140 starter motor location?

johal87, the starter motor is located down below the air-cleaner housing, where the engine joins the transmission unit. Access from underneath looks convenient. If you were to purchase the Audi A3 Haynes Owners Workshop Manual 4844-384 it gives two sections on starter motor testing and starter motor removal and refitting, with photographs. See pages 5A*5 & 5A*6 for information. Hope this helps.

Remove starter from the top always, airbox takes 2 minutes to remove, disconnect battery 1st, then disconnect connector to starter, then undo nut holding thick cable on, then undo 2 hex bolts , then angle it up & out between pipes, reverse for new.
