    Hi All,

Literally just got my car remapped with a Stage 1 and DPF delete and theres a large issue with the remap where when i boot it in full load in third and fourth that the car just judders around 2000x-revs + - just seems as if the car is either hesitating or loosing power here and there.

The only thing on the car which has been changed is the air filter - have a CAI Carbonio Inlet.

Any help would be very much appriciated

What have the tuners said? Have you spoken to them yet? It would be the first thing I did if I was having issues. They should be putting any issues right if there are problems with the map.

That was the first thing that i did  and he has said that the issue is with my air intake and that i needed to swap it over with my original one

Cant see it being that unless the intake is blocked completely.

After having mapped numerous diesels and deleting the DPF I have felt this hesitation on afew diesels. Turned out to be a choked EGR valve so ended up doing an EGR delete (software only) so the customer could enjoy the new power and delete the EGR at a later date.

standard air box is good or go for an APR intake from a 2.0tfsi that does a good job, also check for boost leaks in all turbo to intercooler hoses

Was rather hoping it wasn't the air filter as the carbonio cost me just over £250. I'm fitting my standard one back today to see what that is.

The tuners have said that if it is the air box, they would happily take the car back to tweak it. But they were just unsure of what the issue exactly was.

    Will keep you all updated

What carbonio was it ? If its a boxed carbonio then it wouldnt be air filter but if its open cone then most likely is

its a boxed carbon fibre one - worked perfectly prior to the remap. Been out in the car today and in 6th it's even hesitating

Sounds like a fuelling issue to me.

Check the fuel filter as the extra airflow created from using the Carbonio will mean the engine also requires extra fuel to maintain ratios. If the fuel filter is clogged it wont deliver enough flow at the required revs - 2krpm in 4th,5th & 6th will be the maximum torque 'area' in the rev range, so the stuttering in this range isnt really a coincidence.

Personally I'd ditch the Carbonio, the standard airbox is ugly as sin but it flows more than enough, doesnt let 99% of the crud through that aftermarket filter will (which will then nicely sand your engine internals), + it's designed so you wont hydrolock your engine if you scoop up a load of water in the front end.

Deffo not filter put that back on, it sounds like fuel filter as stated above should have had service before getting remapped mate

I'd be surprised if the air filter is the fault. If it drove fine before it should drive fine after otherwise it wasn't mapped "properly" surely?

Fuel filter doubt fuel pressure regulator is faulty, compare new and old filter if the old one looks proper bad then the new one should resolve it but if it is the map then i would dyno it and look at the torque curve and see whats wrong and take it back and get your money back for the remap

New fuel filter is now fitted - just letting the engine tick over then will take it for a spin :)

    Fingers crossed

The air filter change won't be the cause of your issue, it will highlighted anything that was previously wrong though, hence me suggesting the fuel filter change... Looking at that fuel filter I'd say that it definitely won't have been helping things even if it isn't the ultimate issue causing your stuttering.

fuel filter changed and exactly the same issue. i fed this back to my tuner and he said that it could possibly be the injectors as there was an injectror recall done on my vehicle a few years back - this concluded that it has already been done.

Started to get a little stummped here

I'd this has only started since the air filter and remap try changing back to the standard air box, if the problem persists then in theory it can only be the remap. Even if the injectors need adjusting the tuner should have really made sure that this wouldn't have been a problem before slinging a map on the car.

Does it do it on standard software? The injectors need to be health checked and clearances set. If this is ok, then get the tuner to gradually increase the fuelling and see at what point the issue starts happening, logging as you go.

I know it's in my interest to say this but this is why you should go to a specialist that knows the car, and knows how to map it. No way would I let a car go in this state.

    Hi All,

Since changing the fuel filter, having an EGR removal as well as putting my stock OEM air filter, the issue is still persistent :(

Are you sure its not clutch slip with having a remap and a dpf removal , a whole lot of extra torque there

Defo isn't clutch slip - just looses power and the whole car judders. Seen a mates S3 with clutch slip and when you hoofed that, it just revd a lot higher. This feels and looks completely different.

Wouldn't the EGR delete get around this?

Have now spoken to my Tuner again and he has said that the EGR delete is still doing nothing. He did however ask a few questions in regards to the Cambelt on the vehicle and if it had been changed or not....but seeing as the car only has just over 40K on, im guessing it wouldn't have needed any changes?

    Hi All,

To provide an update. The car has been in with Audi for quite some time, new inlet manifold and turbo and it is still having exactly the same issue.

Have got the car on Stage 0 + DPF off and the car is hesitating here and there - Audi have confirmed this issue.

    Anybody got any ideas?

    Thanks!

I had exactly the same problem after a remap and mine went to audi and everything and no could work it out, it turned out to be the map.
Take it back to him and get the power turned down.

Car handles like a dream now and is defo ready for a stage 1!
