As above, I'm after a complete engine for a 2003 A4 1.8t 190bhp BEX engine.

If your turbo is still good, would you not just get any 1.8T post year 2000 and swap over the accessories?
Hi pal turbo is buggered also. What engine code should I be looking for as a replacement??? Will I have to put bigger injectors in also from the bex engine?
Yeah basically any 1.8T engine that has small port head and VVT will do the job. You'll just need a K03s turbo from the BEX then, probably easier to get a K04 hybrid. Your injectors that you have will need to be swapped over as well as they are slightly larger than the standard 150/165bhp models.

So you want Small port head, DBW, Internal Water Pump and VVT in the head.
What exactly happened to yours? Could your head be ok?
Just read you thread there regarding the oil pump failure. Your turbo might be ok...
Id take it off any have it checked, you might get lucky.
As for the engine, as I said above, id get one the engines that are listed in the link above. Then swap everything on the outside of the engine from your BEX onto it. Ancillaries (Alternator, PS etc) Intake and exhaust, all associated vacuum pipework...
You will need the clutch and flywheel from your BEX as well as the ones from Transverse Mounted engines (golf, a3) will not work with your gearbox.
Basically you want the block and head from a different car and then swap EVERYTHING from your engine on to it.
Hi pal thanks, I have managed to get an APU engine from a friend complete. If I put the turbo off the bex on this engine do I need to keep the standard injectors on the APU. Also will I need to remap the car or should it run fine with it being mapped for bigger injectors???

Good stuff. The only things you want from the APU are the head and the block. Id swap everything else over from you BEX, injectors and all.
You wont need a remap as long as you keep the BEX turbo and injectors.
Whilst you have the APU engine out Id drop the sump and throw in a new oil pump pickup. Don't bother trying to clean the one thats there for the sake of a £30 part. You may aswell throw on a new timing belt and water pump as well whilst you are at it. Probably not an expense you had budgeted for but will save you money and time in the long run. With the engine on a stand you could easily do it yourself.
Quick list off the top of my head of what gaskets/seals/parts you will need:
Intake Manifold Gasket
Exhaust manifold gasket
Turbo return line to sump gasket
2 copper washers for the coolant supply from block to turbo line
Oil Pump pickup
Timing blet and waterpump
Thermostat housing gasket (housing is different to the Passat APU one)
Oil filter hosuing to engine block gasket
Rear Coolant Flange (located at the back of the head)
When you are removing the turbo, only disconnect the oil and coolant lines from the car; don't bother removing them from the turbo.
Just on a side note, the APU is from a manual car right? the cranks are different between the Manual and Auto cars.

Hi bud, thanks for the help so far. I have come across a little problem tonight, the APU engine I have the water pump and the thermostat are located in different place within the block, than the BEX engine I have removed. The engine I have had a viscous fan on it etc and water pump pulley next to it. The bracket and alternator will not align with the APU water pump where it is situated . Hope that makes sense.
That engine won't do the job I'm afraid. That engine is whats called an 058 engine and came from a pre 2000 car.
You need an 06A engine that has an internal waterpump the same as your BEX.

Oh man two many codes I don't know what to do.
Well I had a quick look there and here are a few engine codes that will do the job:
AJH AMB AMK APP AQX ARX ARX AUM AUQ AWP BAM BEX BFB BFV BJX BVP
If you come across an engine code that I haven't mentioned, sure PM and Ill check if it suits.
PM before you buy any of the above as well. I am 90% sure they are the right ones but if you find one of them let me know and I will make 100% sure. I have the Audi/VW parts system here so I can make sure for definite.
I have been offered either a AUM or AQU. Code you possibly check comparability etc.....

The AUM will do the job perfectly. Exactly what you want. Internal waterpump, VVT head and small port head.

ARZ engine complete would that do also.
