anyone using revo on s4?

    There might be.

    However, without getting into a tuner slatting without having experience REVO personally I'll say this.

    Having read lots and lots about owning tuning the B5 S4, there are 2 main things you need to be aware of:

    1. Make sure the car is healthy. This means running A1. No boost leaks (more in a bit) and a healthy MAF. A healthy MAF means your car will no only be performing right but the airflow is corrrect so should not be running lean or rich (I'm sure other things can cuse this too I know). A car running lean from a pooly (and not uncommon at all) MAF will underperform and can cause further damage.

    A boost leak is exactly what is sounds like. An air leak in the pressurised turbo pipework. My layman's understanding is basically this is always bad. Boost leaks can cause error codes to be thrown, can cause limp mode etc buut can also go unoticed. A boost leak can make your turbos have towork harder and spin faster to achieve the same boost due to some air escaping, moving onto number ". this is bad.

    These points are important on a stock car. To not check this on a tuned car is very risky!

    2. The secret of the stock S4's big punch of torque is the two small KKK03 turbos. Very little lag as they are small, but paired up they provide a big hit. Tuning the S4 but ramping up the boost to levels not unresonable on other cars with larger single turbos is not the way to go.

    Back to REVO. From what I read, the REVO map might not be the best, perhaps not the friendliest for the S4. I believe peak boost is quite high although I admit I have no figures here to back me up.

    My generic advice is to take the car to a tuner that will first check the engine over - for a healthy MAF, boostleaks and any other problems. MAFs and the Bosch 710a diverter valves are almost always at fault unless cared for by a knowledgeable previous owner.

    REVO is product sold through resllers I belive, not necessarilly specialist tuners that can do this for you. If you can find a REVO reseller that can check the car over for you and you are happy with that, it would be the most sensible way forward if that is the map you want.

    Personally I would take the car somewhere that can provide a custom remap. The B5 S4s seem to vary quite considerably in some cases car to car.

    A generic remap (like a REVO) places a map developed on the car, job done. A custom map also places a re-developed map on your car, but only as the starting point. It is then either on a rolling road or road tweaked and customised to your car to get teh best and safest configuration.

    Past all this generic advice, I have to say I only ever hear one tuner that can provide this level of service for the B5 S4 and that is MRC Tuning www.mrctuning.com in Banbury. These guys must have seen more 2.7 bi-turbos than anything else.

    I am not an expert, only have an undestanding of these things at a layman's level and am keen to tell you why I recomend MRC so if you find somehwere that can deliver a similar service then go for it.


    If you decide you do want to try REVO, I recommend speaking to Corey at www.quattronics.co.uk. I believe he provides REVO maps. He sewems knowledgeable and helpfull in other areas (never discussed tuning with him) so hopefully he can advise on what to expect and how many B5 S4s he has tuned.

    thanks man that was a big reply, mrc do seem to have the s4 market sorted but i live in n. ireland and am very limited to tuners over here, and the s4 is very rare on the roads.

    Have an ask on www.rs246.com. Big B5 S4 community and some S/RS owners in N.Ireland I'm sure I've seen.
