I've fitted red led strips in the front footwells. Tapped into the cigarette lighter illumination, very easy to do. Cost around a fiver for two 30cm led strips.

I've done it in my b6. Go to a scrappy, your find loads of audis with puddle lights etc i found that even some audis from 1996 had exactly the same lights as the b6/b7. I got a bundle of puddle lights from the doors as the puddle lights, footwell lights and red door markers are all the same. Scrappy wanted 50p for 10 of them! Made my own loom and append into the interior light and they work exactly the same as factory fitted ones.
