Just wondering if any of you guys order your own oils and filters then either service car yourself or pay a garage labour ? And if it works out any better just I know prices at some garages are silly prices, and if you's can recommend somewhere to purchase them from?

I do my own oil changes and thus buy the filter and oil. 4 litres Q8 Longlife fully syn 507.0 spec is £24 incl VAT from local warehouse.
So it works out about £42 incl VAt for all parts.

I too do all of my own oil changes and filter replacement. Both oil (Castrol Edge 5L), and filters are available at my local auto-shop. All I had to buy was the tool for removing the filter cap, and of course a packet of copper washers for the sump plug. I would never even think of having this done by Audi. It is such a simple job, and so satisfying to know it has been done properly. Highly recommended.

Yes I've changed my own oil too but I'm waiting on the sealy 32mm oil filter tool to change the filter. Ver frustrating that I I couldn't get it off. Half price castrol at eurocarparts a few weeks ago.

I think a lot of people do the oil and filter servicing themselves as its easy and you are aware of the quality of products you are using, however I think the only disadvantage is the fact that your service book doesn't get stamped!

Mann supply VAG with their oem filters, i recently bought a mann oil filter for mine, can't remember the code though. worked out at alot less. I bought castrol edge oil for mine tho, i've found some dealers use different things tho. when mine was last serviced at audi they put castrol edge in, another dealer used shell helix, so i've just stuck to edge

I buy all my filters from work, longlife oil from TPS, I work for a large parts importer/distributor so all in cost with oil was £36 and have it serviced at a specialist for £48 so £84 all in and service book stamped up too!

took my own oil (castrol edge, £35 @ asda :yum:) when i got my car serviced with my local audi dealer. they had no problem with me bringing it in. saved me £40, could have even brought my own filter but theirs was the same price.

Thanks ill see what price my garage comes back with I also got a price for Audi just so I can compare what they come back with might be Aswell getting my own engine oil and air filter as ill stick a k and n or something in it instead. Hopefully get a proper air intake next year once I save up a bit :)

i do my own service too using Motul 300V chrono 10w30 and a K&N oil filter infact i bought 10 of them bulk is cheaper :p

I'm lazy, national tyres oil service for £40 does me nicely between each proper service.
