Im looking at getting a diamond ring and have nosed about online as well as the usual high street premium jewellers and as per normal there's much better prices available online. Im a little nervous however considering spending £500-600 with an online retailer on a diamond ring in terms of the true quality i'd get & any comeback should there be any problems. I know using a credit card to pay for it will give me protection under the consumer credit act but i'd rather just have a good service & good product from the beginning! So as per the title, anyone have any experiences of online jewellers and any recommendations??

What you need is a friend, or a friend of a friend who works in a Jemellery store, my mate works for Earnest Jones and can get me 30% off pretty much anything that's not on sale already. ;)

Mate if your gonna buy a diamond ring, dont buy online, always goto the store & get one as what you see online & what you get are 2 different things fella, I bought one few months back(still gotta propose, timing is a factor) & glad I went to the stores as you will have alot more chice, you can ask for a slightly larger stone, smaller etc etc, they can customise it for you & if you dont like change it, but online its nowhere near as flexible as that mate.

You're in Hampshire, Brighton has got some fantastic jewellers shops, I always use 1 shop for something special like that, they are called Newmans/Gold Arts & family run, fantastic service, very nice people, great products & will bend over literally backwards to help you.

I think you can also buy over phone, online etc, I always used the brighton lanes store which I think is the head office, give them a call.

QVC..................i'd like an actual diamond made naturally by carbon deposits deep in the earth being crushed over millions of years together, not diamonique made by Xin Quan Chan in China in 20 seconds flat using rice husks or whatever **** they make it from!!!

Id definately say go into a serious jewelers, not a high street one, but one whose livelyhood it is... if not to actually buy from them but to be 'educated' I didnt know there was so much about fricking diamonds till I got wed. Its all about the 3 c's apparently.

    Good luck tho.

Do that, and then buy a Tiffany's box off ebay or something - she'll never be the wiser!

don`t forget the rule of thumb (if your popping the question) that the ring should be at least 1 months wage packet.

Me and a mate went to Tiffanys on old Bond street to pic a ring for his Doris. They've got some serious rocks in there!

He ended up paying about 5K for one, and she called it off 2 weeks later. It must happen all the time though cos they've got a 28 day refund policy!

    **** happens
