As above really, anyone done this? I was told by the company that sold me the headlights that i shouldnt fit a hid kit to them as they would burn out the lens? What results have you peeps had with this and did you have any issues? Also which kit is best to go for???

Providedyou stick with 35W HID kit, you shouldn't have any issues.
In fact I've found the HID kiit to be cooler than std halogens in the projectors

    Agreed ~ HIDs run cooler.

Just be aware that new rules are likely to pick up on non oem HIDs in next years MOT and result in a fail....

I heard bout the mot failure with hid's, if thats the case i wont bother. So what uprated bulbs can i get to give me a hid look and also a significant improvent on lighting

Have not tried them myself yet, but will be giving the ring xenon ultima bulbs a try soon. 120% brighter apparently.

I'm fairly sure that the mot failure is referring too the hid when used with std reflector rather than retro fit lenses. Not all cars that came from the factory had auto levelling function , accord type r for 1

There are many confusing stories it there , I have been trawling through mot based websites and found nothing concrete. ( only about light scatter , with hid & reflective lenses)

I'm in process of retro fitting oem xenons without levelling. The only way I can see that they can check for auto levelling is to jack the back of the car up when it's on the ramp and see if it moved( some levelling sensors are on the back of the car , some on the front) Not exactly scientific , what would construe a failure ?? Didn't move enough , moved too much ?? Delay too long before they moved?? Moved at the wrong angle ?? ... Way too many what if's in my own mind added to the fact that there are a bunch of cars out there ( granted they are early ones) which didn't have the levelling function but came with hid

Maybe someone out there can let me know if you have retro fitted without levelling ... Do the lights do the 'zero'ing' (dip and raise ) when 1st turn on? If so , that maybe enough.

    Plan B:
    1) Remove bumper
    2) Remove headlights
    3) Change HID bulb to Halogen bulb
    4) Install headlights
    5) Install bumper
    6) Do MOT
    7) Repeat above steps 1 - 5, except step 3 becomes "Change Halogen bulb to HID bulb"

Not too difficult for a once a year thing.

All I gotta say is that I'm happy to be living in Africa where the MOT doesn't exist.
