New car itch, looking for something new....:ninja:

What is the general consensus on the 3.2V6?

    Remapped 8L S3 vs 8P 3.2V6

    Remaped 8l would be faster
3.2 heavy front end no cheap tuning solutions more road tax less mpg
and just don't have the same wheel arches as a 8l
If I wanted a 3.2 I would go r32 better looking better handling

Agree on the above (thanks for the text pal as well).

Also, I thought the 3.2s were cheap because of timing chain issues costing £££?

    I have considered at 2TFSI 8P recently, purely for newer looks/interior. . .

I went to the ring with a 3.2 TT a few years back and it just didn't want to go round corners. The guy driving it understeered onto the grass and grazed the armco at one point! I've never liked the idea of all that weight up front.

i think the 2.0t would be a better compromise between effeciency, tunability, costings and power personally. but then again there is the sound of the 3.2 now thats nice.

ive resigned myself to this unless the RS4 becomes cheaper to run by some freak miracle :)

M3 was considered but RS4 running costs and slower than an RS4 :)

there is simply nothing out there as a good all rounder ;) as much as we slate it

Full major service, Cambelt, water pump, oil pickup & oil pump pressure tested, braided brake lines, Brake fluid change, Brembo front discs, Ferodo DS2500, ATE rear discs and pads, two new tyres. Think that's it :uhm:

Cambelt? How many miles are you on pal?

Ahh, the brakes, good stuff. Next on my list.

Decided to go down the standard route for mine for the moment. Will mod after a year as originally intended. So standard spring and shocks replacement (on the cheap, so second hand or through Audi's MOT cover).

But brakes are a different matter!

I cant wait for the brakes to get done.

Do it. I love my S4 (not that I wouldn't sell it mind you), and that seems a pretty good price. I did enjoy my 1.8T, but that V8 is awesome. Had a V6 (2.8 24v Golf 4motion) before and its light years ahead.

A for the whole cheaper tax thing, that just noise by people who either haven't actually looked, or are trying to kid themselves. You could have a 7l V12 taxed for about £245 a year so long as it was registered before April (I think) 2006. It really annoys me when people put up ads for cars registered before 2001 and claim cheap tax. Just shows they don't actually know the laws...

High miler due to the first owner of the car driving from London to Manchester at least once a week. Which is also why my turbo and clutch are still original and ok (touch wood).

Anyway, back on subject. Don't get a V6 unless it has a turbo strapped to it.

Westle....thats the thing doood, once you get a house these things start having to take a back seat bro :)

S4 isnt too disimilar to S4 for running costs.....i looked into that too ;) they are completely different beasts when compared to ours, at least double the costs for most items like brakes/plugs etc etc

    Petrol is the big one!

I'll get my house and then worry about a new car in a few years, that's if I can ever afford a nice car when I have a mortgage :banghead:

You seen that first year tax bit?
Maybe i read it wrong but it seems that if you buy a brand new car now you have to pay some massive tax for the first year? group M emissions £950 tax?!? are they having a laugh, wonder what cars fit into that group!

Glad i own my car now, my mate and his new clio sport he ordered is going to get a shock if i read that all right :-S

Well, to be honest, I don't consider £40 a year to be enough of an incentive to go for a smaller engine or older car....

For example, is it not worth the extra £40 a year (in tax) to go from a 2000 S3 to a 2006 RS4?, or 2003 RS6? The amount of ads that state on their 2000 plated cars that they are cheap tax, when in fact, its only £40 to get a year or 6 newer.
