    I actually was trying to do the exact same thing few months back with my local exhaust fabricator but when I thought about it how I have explained above I didnt take it any further. Im looking forward to the results you get an if they are good could be a future mod.

    When i first read you was having boost creep, the first thing that came to my head was the actuator was getting weak as you can get boost creep from weak actuators running internal wastegates but BIll sorted that out. I see what your saying though you could get more power from lower boost with more timing.

    Look at the bend before the turbo
    Look at its diameter

    losse's are incurred
    Those who have made their own 3" TIP's have gained everywhere. This is the hope from the one I am making. We will see. Pretty confident it will yield gains.
    losses on intake are multiplied by the compressors pressure ratio... turbos blow well, they dont suck so well.

    yes. grub screw which locates in the k04's inlet groove.
    add some gasket sealer to the ID to make the airtight seal for good measure, and the grub screws will secure it mechanically

    I have one here and its small bore in the bend.. I prefer to try and keep it full 3" until the last minute.

    you are'nt getting it nattie

    uprated actuator??? what do you think its doing?

    sustaining boost in this application has nothing to do with actuator pressure and everything to do with compressor capacity
    aka its run out of puff up top so cannot sustain and more.

    Its ME who is doing this, and Wellys is the willing victim for testing. I wanted to try this as I have dyno'd an LCR on hybrid which had a diy 3" TIP and it worked and it flowed very well. the cavitation all too common on 210/225 engines once mapped can be eliminated from this larger intake I believe..

    I am experiencing cavitation on my Hybrid, its bloody annoying and Bill if your TIP solves this i think it will a worthwhile exercise in itself.

    you studying this at uni currently? your a student yea?

    *maybe* more book time and less pub time perhaps..

    creep is'nt weak actuator, moreover inadequate wastegate size to flow/bypass the flow

    I dont got to pubs Bill. We havent actually studied this stuff. I have just gone by experience me and my mate had with boost creep. He was having boost creep and we changed to a stiffer actuator and it cured it.

    I have actually just looked it up in a book I have and boost creep is when the size of the wastegate is not big enough to allow the exhaust gases past through it. So when the wastegate is fully open it cannot allow enough exhaust flow to past through it so you get boost creep, in a general summary.

    If that not the right explaination for boost creep correct it please.

    Lol I rarely drink, only on occasions really. Only time you will find me in a pub is to kick ass on the pool table lol.

    Wow you can be a right assy cant you. I did read what you said but thought I would put it in my own words of what i understand boost creep to be, is that ok with you Bill......

    Dude I have literally just started studying turbos in detail as im doing my final year project on the new F1 turbo engines being designed. I was asking for compressor maps as i was going to do an engine simulation on a S3 but havent got a head to get accurate measurements. I am studying, meaning learning ........

    No need for assy coments. If im that frustrating dont reply to my comments.

    I have not got time to waste on you, that much I know, and when you ask questions on whats already been answered it annoys me, as I am simply wasting my time I have precious little of.

    I do not have inclination or time to waste debating with you when you just do not appear to listen or understand.

    I might seem arsey to you, but if you were having your time wasted by someone, I am sure you would be even less tolerant or obliging with information.

    Dude how am I wasting your time, you dont have to reply back if you havent got time. If I dont understand something or say something which is not correct I expect someone (usually you) to correct it, which you did.

    However I when and looked it up myself and to get a more technical idea and posted back my understand of something which I didnt understand very well, which was what you said basically but wanted to know a bit more so when and looked it up, what is wrong with that. All you have to say is ye thats correct now or you still dont get it, or not even reply back if its wasting your time that much.

    At the end of the day your one of the more knowlegable people when it comes to technical stuff which is what im after so if I say something which is wrong or dont make sense and you correct it im happy but theres no need to get funny if I dont understand something which I want to know about.

    I have learnt alot on here, and have helped many too...
    Nathan is learning as we all are and nobody knows everything...
    It gets very snobby/clicky on here sometimes....

    Shall we leave this behind now? The last page was entirely bitching about this and that (largely from me I grant you), and we're sort of losing the point of the thread...

    The TIP is being made. It will be fitted. It will be tested. The results will speak for themselves.
