Just recently, whenever you turn the key to start the A4, it beeps, like a heart monitor. There are no visual warnings as such (apart from saying it needs an oil service, but the OIL has been flashing longer than this beep thing has been going on!), and it is fairly intermittent.

Doesnt seem to affect the running of the car, just a lil bit annoying!

Any ideas what it may be?

I seem to recall there's a warning beep(s) if the battery charge drops to a low level.

Might be the alarm, I know the A3 suffered from 3 or 4 beeps when the backup battery in the alarm module starts failing. This was also accompanied by the alarm going off randomly in the middle of the night. Haven't heard that the A4 suffered from this though.

mine does this but only when it needs something doing, ie fuel, washer bottle low or bulb gone etc.. always comes up with a light, reset via vagcom and see what happens

No warning lights! Also no VAG-COM! If anyone in the area (Fakenham, nearish to Norwich) has one I could use I would much appreciate it! (need the oil service light resetting anyway!

Still beeping though!

dont know if yours is different but i can reset the oil light by pulling one stalk out, turning on ignition then pressing the 2nd stalk.

Think it's the alarm,

My A4 has exactly the same problem. Only tends to happen though when i haven't used the car for a day or two. Think a new siren is required but they're not cheap. I'd be tempted to live with it for now. :)

Don't think it's as easy as that.

Might be better having an aftermarket alarm fitted that makes a decent noise when it is set off.

Think most alarm specialists will disable/remove the factory fit alarm.

I'm just going to live with mine until it stops working.

You can just unplug the alarm horn and the system will still operate, dorrs lock, hazards flash when the alarm goes off.

Been there, got the tee shirt

Mines an A6 but I would suspect that its the same anyway. Seeing as the horns are so quiet anyway whats the difference.

Not on mine! One of them is for the clock!

As for the beeping, just to clarify, it is from the dash, not a horn, my alarm works fine!
