Are there any holes behind the badges or are they all adhered?

I peeled my A4 badge off recently. Just used a plastic scraper behind it to remove the plastic badge, gently rubbed/picked off the remaining foam mess, then gave it a good going over with 3 or 4 coats of autoglym paint restorer to remove the remaining glue and the tarnishing that seemed to be there between the badges.

Might do the 1.8T badge at some point, but it started raining so i stopped.

I use high tensile fishing line and a heat gun as the fishing wire wont damage the paint at all.

^ Snap. Fishing line and two pieces of dowel and away you go. Easy badge removal and no paint damage.

That's good news, Paul, glad you'll be taking good care of her, as Andy did.

Expecting to see some good progress pictures.
